Want to watch the Italian Serie A live online? In this post, we’ll explain how to live stream Serie A 2018/19 soccer matches featuring clubs like Juventus, A.C. Milan, and Napoli, online. By using a Virtual Private Network (VPN), you’ll be able to stream Serie A games abroad in the US, the UK, France, Spain. Germany, or anywhere else in the world. Italy might be the home of this league, but it’s far from the only place you can watch it.

How to watch the Italian Serie A soccer online

The 2018/19 season started on August 18 and will run until May 26, 2019. Matches are fairly sporadic, but there’s usually at least one every week or two. It’s important to note that on days with multiple matches, these often begin simultaneously. This means that you’ll have to decide in advance which teams you’d like to see play. Don’t worry: you can view the full 2018/19 schedule here and below, we’ll let you know where and when to watch every single game this season and the best VPNs to do so.

This post will only recommend official Serie A broadcasters. Unfortunately, high-profile sporting events like this almost always attract unlicensed streams. However, these are often taken down part way through for copyright violation, and video quality is usually pretty terrible. With so many different ways to watch Serie A matches, there’s no need to use unofficial streams.

Best VPN for the Italian Serie A: ExpressVPN

VPNs are one of the easiest ways to stop your Internet Service Provider (ISP) from monitoring your activities. They also allow you to connect to servers all over the world, bypassing regional restrictions and letting you stream geo-locked content from abroad. We recommend ExpressVPN: it’s fast enough to stream live HD video with no interruptions, offers a wide range of security features, and can easily unblock major streaming platforms like Netflix, Sky Go, and FOX Sports.

Getting started is simple: just choose your preferred subscription length (one, six, or twelve months) and make a payment. This starts a 30-day trial period, during which you can stream Serie A games to your heart’s content. Not satisfied? No problem — just cancel to get your money back, no questions asked.

3 MONTHS FREE: Get three months extra free here by choosing ExpressVPN’s one-year plan. You’ll also get a 49% discount which brings the monthly cost down to just $6.67.

How to stream the 2018/19 Serie A with a VPN

Never used a VPN before and unsure of how to get started? Just follow the steps below to unblock Serie A matches (and most other geo-locked content) from abroad.

  1. Start by choosing a suitable VPN provider. We’ve already mentioned ExpressVPN, but NordVPN and CyberGhost are strong, budget-friendly alternatives.
  2. Download and install the VPN software. Most offer separate versions for Windows, MacOS, Android, and iOS, so make sure you get the correct version.
  3. Choose which of the official Serie A broadcasters below you’d like to use.
  4. Connect to a server in the appropriate location. For instance, you’ll need a US server to unblock ESPN or a British one to access Eleven Sports.
  5. Try loading video from your chosen site. It should load instantly but if not, try reloading the page or restarting your browser.

Since many Serie A games start simultaneously, we recommend running through the steps above before kickoff time, if possible. This way, if anything goes wrong, there will still be time to get help from your VPN’s customer support team and you won’t miss the match.

Where can I watch Serie A games online?

Some of the best football (or soccer) teams in the world compete in the Italian Serie A. As such, this league has fans all over the world. The good news is that with official broadcasters in more than 40 different countries, you can watch the Serie A from almost anywhere.

US

You can watch every single Serie A fixture live on ESPN by signing in with your cable provider details. Luckily, since this is one of the most popular sports networks, it’s easy to get access even if you don’t have a cable TV subscription. Currently, you can watch Serie A live on Hulu, DirecTV Now, PlayStation Vue, Sling TV, and YouTube TV. However, the least expensive way to watch is with ESPN+.

This service costs $4.99 per month (or $49.99 per year) and includes a one-week free trial. However, as with all of the services mentioned above, ESPN+ is only available to users in the US, or those connected to a US VPN server. If you’re an American abroad, you can still register, but ESPN+ requires a payment method linked to a US address, so it’s all but impossible for non-Americans to sign up.

ESPN will have commentary available in both English and Spanish.

UK

In the UK, the only way to watch Serie A games online is on Eleven Sports. This service is also the country’s exclusive broadcaster of La Liga fixtures, so if you follow international football, signing up is an easy decision. You can register for £5.99 per month or £49.99 per year, and there’s even a 7-day free trial so you can see what exactly is on offer.

If you’d really prefer not to pay, you can stream one Serie A match per week live, for free, on Eleven Sports’ Facebook page. However, with over 300 games scheduled, this is hardly ideal. You should note that while Eleven Sports is also available in the US, Serie A games will only be shown on the UK version; this can be accessed from abroad by connecting to one of your VPN’s British servers.

Canada

Canada has two official Serie A broadcasters: TLN and DAZN. That said, TLN does not have an online live stream and is only showing around half of all Serie A fixtures. DAZN, on the other hand, is showing every match live, and only costs $20 CAD per month (or $150 annually). Better still, your first month is free, so if you only want to watch the final leg of the competition, you won’t have to pay at all.

DAZN has particularly strong geo-restriction measures, and accessing it from abroad is often difficult. However, the Canadian site currently does not block VPN users, making it easy to watch Serie A matches abroad. This service allows you to pay with iTunes gift cards, so it’s even possible to register without a Canadian-registered payment method.

Australia

Australian football fans can follow all of the action live on beIN Sports. Don’t worry if you miss a game since they’re all available to watch on-demand for seven days after their initial broadcast. beIN Sports costs $19.99 AUD per month ($199.99 annually) and comes with a two-week free trial.

If you’re a Foxtel customer and subscribed to the Sports Pack, you can watch beIN Sports at no additional cost. This package costs $29 per month, however, so if you don’t already have it, it’d be less expensive to sign up to beIN Sports instead. beIN Sports and Foxtel Now both geo-lock their content, so you will have to be in Australia or have an Australian IP address to watch Serie A fixtures with these services.

Italy

DAZN will stream up to three Serie A games per day in Italy, with the rest (266 matches) available exclusively on Sky Sports. DAZN costs €9.99 per month, and comes with a 30-day free trial, whereas Sky Sports packages start at €29.99 per month, with a €39 upfront cost.

If you’re already a Sky Sports subscriber, you can watch online with the Sky Go app. If not, there’s a slightly less expensive way to watch: just sign up for Now TV and get a daily, weekly, or monthly Sky Sports pass. This option costs €39.98 (assuming a monthly subscription) and includes a two-week trial period.

All of the above services are geo-restricted and only accessible from within Italy. However, if you connect to one of your VPN’s Italian servers, you can stream Serie A matches live, whichever country you’re currently in.

Other locations

The 2018/19 Serie A league is being broadcast in far too many countries to provide guides for each of them. However, the league’s Wikipedia page has a detailed list of international broadcasters, and should enable you to find a suitable local source no matter where you are.

If your country isn’t in the broadcaster list, don’t worry. In many of these locations, you can simply sign up to Serie A Pass, a service which lets you watch every game live or on-demand. It costs $5.99 USD per month, comes with a 7-day trial, and even offers condensed videos in case you miss a crucial match.

Can I watch the 2018/19 Serie A season with a free VPN?

While free VPNs can be tempting at first glance, they come with several major disadvantages. As a result, we advise against using one. First of all, these services have more users than their servers can support, so their speeds are often too slow for streaming live HD video, or indeed any video at all. Coupled with the fact that most major streaming services have blocked free VPNs entirely, the odds of you being able to watch Serie A games while using one are very slim indeed.

You might ask yourself how free VPN companies can afford to exist, especially with the rising cost of building and maintaining an international server network. You’ll almost always find that these services insert ads into the sites you visit, but that’s not the only way they make money. Some use tracking cookies to monitor your activities, even after disconnection from the VPN. This information can then be used to create a detailed consumer profile, which is then sold to the highest bidder without your knowledge. VPNs are intended to stop third parties from getting their hands on your personal information, but this is exactly what can happen when you use a free service.

Choosing a VPN is always difficult, but finding a decent free VPN is even more of a challenge. You’ll have to avoid those simply looking to infect your device with malware, sell your bandwidth, or harvest your data for personal gain. A 2015 study showed that 18% of surveyed apps didn’t even encrypt user traffic at all. Further, the majority did so without IPv6 or DNS leak protection. The best way to protect yourself online is to use a well-established VPN with a track record of standing up for its users’ privacy.
