watch the Rugby Super League 2022 online anywhere

The 2022 Rugby Super League kicks off on Thursday, February 10. The first game will be between the St. Helens and the Catalans Dragons.  Following that there will be three or four matches per week until the Grand Final at Old Trafford on Saturday, September 24.

Below, we’ll let you know where you can watch every single one of these fixtures live online while abroad on vacation.

Note that we’ll only be recommending official sources. Unlicensed live streams are almost inevitable for popular sporting events but even if you ignore their copyright implications, they offer at best, a substandard service. These streams are often low-resolution, laggy, and on a delay. Further, there’s a good chance they’ll be taken offline partway through a game. There are several low-cost ways to watch anyway, so there’s really no reason to use unofficial streams.

These days, most major streaming services are geo-restricted, meaning you can’t watch from outside of a particular country. For this reason, you’ll need to use a VPN to access your home streaming platforms while traveling abroad.

How to watch the Rugby Super League abroad with a VPN

Once you have a VPN, bypassing regional restrictions becomes incredibly simple. Follow the steps below to stream every second of the Super League online, even from abroad.

Here’s how to watch the Rugby Super League live stream online from anywhere:

  1. Start by choosing a suitable VPN. We recommend NordVPN because it is fast for streaming. You can also opt for ExpressVPN or Surfshark, which are both outstanding VPNs with servers where you need them.
  2. Download and install the appropriate version of the app for your operating system.
  3. Decide which of the services below you’d like to access and connect to a server in the relevant location. For example, you’d use a US server to unblock Fox Sports or a UK server for Now TV or Channel 4.
  4. Try to use the service. If everything works, it should load immediately. If not, clearing your cache and cookies, then refreshing the page usually fixes the problem.

When trying to watch live events, it’s important to test your VPN with the steps above before kickoff time. This way, if you run into difficulty, you’ll still have time to get help from your VPN’s customer support team. This also means you won’t miss the start of any Super League fixtures.

How to live stream the Rugby Super League 2022

Good news for international rugby fans: the 2022 Super League will be broadcast across numerous different countries. Take a look below to find the official broadcaster in your area:

UK

Sky Sports was previously Britain’s exclusive Super League broadcaster since the league was formed in 1996 (to replace the Rugby Football League).

In 2022, however, rugby league fans are in for a sweet surprise! The UK’s free-to-air broadcaster Channel 4 will be showing 10 of the games. This means that anybody can stream Super League free online on All4. Just remember that Channel 4 is geo-restricted – so if you want to watch Rugby Super League for free outside of the UK – you will need to connect to one of our recommended VPN providers.

In addition, you can watch weekly updates and highlights of the Super League on BBC iPlayer. This service is easy to access from abroad if you use a VPN, so if you leave Britain on vacation you can still stay up-to-date with each week’s fixtures and results.

If you already have Sky TV and the sports package (which is an extra £23 per month), you can watch every single Super League fixture live on the Sky Go app. If you don’t have cable TV, you can still watch with Now TV’s Sky Sports pass. This method is more convenient, and is the best way to watch as much Super League as possible online. That said, it’s still quite an expensive way to watch the league events since Now TV’s Sports pass costs £33.99 per month.

All of the services mentioned above are regionally restricted and only available in the UK. This means you will need a VPN to watch the Rugby if you are outside of the country on vacation. NordVPN offers a 30-day money-back guarantee so you can try it risk-free.

Australia

Australian rugby fans can stream the main Super League fixture every day live on Fox League. Existing Fetch and Foxtel TV subscribers can simply log in to the Fetch or Foxtel Go app and watch on whichever device they prefer. Even if you don’t have cable TV, you can still watch these matches live by signing up to Foxtel Now.

It’s worth noting that this is a fairly expensive option, however. The standard package costs $25 AUD per month, with the sports pack costing an extra $29. A 10-day trial is included, though, and during this period, you’ll have access to every channel the service offers.

On the plus side, since the Super League matches start so early (around 6:30 AM AEDT), Fox League is running repeats shortly after noon. This service is only available in Australia, so remember to use a VPN before trying to access it abroad.

Canada

Rugby fans in Canada can enjoy the 2022 Rugby Super League by tuning into Sportsnet. As long as you are in Canada, you can stream the rugby using the Sportsnet NOW service. This service will cost you $14.99 Canadian per month.

As with other streaming platforms, Sportsnet NOW is region-locked. This means that you will need to connect to an IP address in Canada to stream the service while outside of Canada on vacation.
