how to watch teh brit awards 2018

Do you want to watch the Brit Awards live? In this article we’ll be explaining where you can watch the Brit Awards online and what addons you need to watch it on Kodi or to safely stream it online without using low quality, illegal streams.

On February 21st, the biggest names in British pop music will gather for the 2018 Brit Awards. This is a highly publicized event and as a result, there will be a few different ways to watch it via online streaming platforms and Kodi.

Kodi is a free, open-source media center package that makes it very easy to create your own home theater system. Kodi has become one of the most popular applications of its kind thanks to its high degree of customizability and exceptional multi-platform support. It can be installed on all the most popular devices including Amazon Firestick, iPad, and Apple TV.

This article will describe how and where you can watch the 2018 Brit Awards, regardless of where you are in the world. We’ll also be mentioning sources that allow you to watch the Brit Awards on-demand after they’ve aired. It should be noted that we won’t be recommending any websites or Kodi addons that use unlicensed streams. That said, the Brit Awards will be available on several legitimate streaming platforms so unofficial sources are not only less reliable but unnecessary too.

Warning: Kodi should only be used for content to which you have the legal right to access. Neither the Kodi Foundation nor Comparitech advocates the use of Kodi for piracy.

Important: Always use a VPN with Kodi

Some Kodi users connect to a virtual private network (VPN) to hide unlicensed streaming from their internet service provider (ISP). Despite this, VPNs have many uses and can be very useful, even to people who only stream from official sources.

A VPN encrypts your internet traffic and makes it unreadable to any outside observers. This includes your ISP and anyone targeting your system with a Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) attack. Because your ISP can’t tell what you’re doing, they can’t sell your data to third parties or use it to justify reducing your internet speeds.

Choosing the right VPN provider is crucial. Every VPN will slow your network down but some can make streaming video almost impossible. Also, in the past, some VPNs have been caught including malware, lying about the logs they keep, and using their customers’ computers as part of a botnet.

We recommend IPVanish. Unlike most other VPN providers, it builds and maintains its own servers to resolve problems quickly. Further, it has minimal impact on your connection speed, offers servers in more than 50 countries, and can easily be installed on several platforms including the Amazon Firestick, Android devices, and iPhone.

How to watch the Brit Awards online

In contrast to the 2018 Winter Olympics which has a different official broadcaster for each country, the Brit Awards will be aired solely on Britain’s ITV channel live albeit with a 30-second delay.

You can watch live using the online ITV Player, however there are several geographic restrictions in place. Users in England and Wales can register on the site and begin watching immediately but Scottish viewers will have to use the STV Player instead. It should be noted that the STV website requires a separate registration as the two sites’ accounts are not interchangeable.

If you’re located outside of the UK, you can watch either stream by connecting to one of your VPN’s British servers.

There has been no mention of any other sources as yet, but for the last four years, the Brit Awards have also been streamed live on their official YouTube channel. With previous streams announced just a few days before the event, it’s likely we’ll see another this year. We recommend keeping an eye on the Brit Awards’ social media channels for any announcements.

How to watch the Brit Awards on Kodi

Both online sources for the Brit Awards have official Kodi addons. This means that you can watch live via Kodi without resorting to unlicensed sources or compromising on video quality.

ITV Kodi addon

The ITV Kodi addon allows you to watch live and on-demand content from several of ITV’s channels. It has an extremely simple menu structure and as a result, it’s easy to find whatever you’re looking for. Both on-demand content and live streams load quickly and can be watched in high definition.

To watch the Brit Awards, simply click the Live option, then select ITV1. You’ll have to connect to one of your VPN’s British servers first if you’re outside of the UK. It should be noted that while this addon has a built-in proxy setting, this should not be used as you can’t verify what is being done with your internet traffic.

The ITV Kodi addon can be found in the NoobsandNerds repository.

Assuming the Brit Awards maintain their tradition of providing a YouTube livestream, you’ll be able to tune in with the YouTube Kodi addon. To do this, just open the addon, click the Live category, and scroll down until you find the Brit Awards stream. You can also use the Live Tube addon (available from the Fusion repo) if you’d rather search for it directly.

The YouTube addon maintains most of the website’s functionality. The only real difference between watching live on the website and on Kodi is that you can’t view or contribute to the stream’s live chat when watching via Kodi. That said, the real focus is the awards themselves, not what’s going on in the sidebar so you’re unlikely to miss much.

The YouTube addon can be found in the official Kodi addon repository.

Alternative addons to avoid

We’ve only listed official sources above and we urge our readers to reject unlicensed streams entirely. However, there are certain addons that come highly recommended on less scrupulous websites and forums. It can sometimes be difficult to tell if an addon is legitimate or not, so we’ve aimed to remove all doubt by listing some of the most popular unofficial IPTV addons below.

Supra Box

Halow Live TV

Live Mix

Why should you avoid these addons? Because these addons use unofficial sources, they’re far less reliable than their official counterparts. The sites that host these streams are in danger of receiving DMCA takedown requests which means that your video could cut out at any moment. Furthermore, unofficial addons aren’t designed with the same rigorous quality assurance checks that official addons are. As such, they’re far less secure and can potentially offer an attacker a way into your system.

For these reasons, we do not recommend installing the addons above.

Thanks to the widespread adoption of online streaming platforms, it’s easier than ever to watch the Brit Awards online or with Kodi.
