UFC 235 is on its way with a co-main event featuring Jon Jones vs. Anthony Smith and Tyron Woodly vs. Karamru Usman. This event will be broadcast internationally through various services, particularly UFC Fight Pass and UFC Pay-Per-View. Thanks to an international audience, you can watch UFC 235 live online even when abroad. You may also be able to watch the most of the event for free using UFC Fight Pass, while DAZN may be a free option for the main event.
Importantly, we will not be recommending unofficial streaming options. UFC is known to lock the main event behind a Pay-Per-View paywall, making its events popular among illegitimate streaming sites. However, there are ways to watch most, if not all, of UFC 235 online for free from anywhere in the world. Because illegitimate streaming sites tend to have issues with poor-quality video, buffering, and malware, it’s best to utilize official streaming options. By utilizing free trials you can watch the fight free. We’ll show you how.
You will need a VPN to watch most or all of UFC 235 for free unless you’re in Germany.
How to watch UFC 235 free with a VPN
You can bypass regionally-blocked content for UFC 235 Jones vs. Smith by using a VPN. Follow these steps to watch UFC 235 through UFC Fight Pass, DAZN and other locations around the world.
To get your VPN working with UFC 235, do the following:
- Create your VPN account online. ExpressVPN is our recommended option, but other options such as NordVPN and Cyberghost may work as well.
- Install the VPN software on your device(s) and connect to the country where you want to gain streaming access (such as the UK, US, or Germany).
- Open your streaming service and connect to the UFC 235 fight. We recommend testing access to streams from abroad before the fight begins.
That’s all there is to it! You may encounter other roadblocks to streaming that a VPN cannot account for. For example, you may not have any available payment options for a streaming service outside of your location. Additionally, you may find a service uses other means to detect your location, such as GPS on mobile devices.
In those cases, your best option may be to use a web browser to avoid location-based detection methods common with many mobile streaming apps. If using a web browser, we also recommend that you take a few additional steps, including clearing the cache, cookies, history, and other saved data that may have location information stored.
Let’s explore some of your options to watch UFC 235 live online.
How to watch UFC 235 Jones vs. Smith on US TV
US residents have several options to watch UFC 235, at least as far as getting access to the early prelims and prelims. The UFC is streaming the early prelims, prelims, and the main event in three different locations:
- Early prelims: UFC Fight Pass
- Prelims: ESPN
- Main card: UFC Pay-Per-View
UFC Fight Pass – Early prelims
You will need to sign up to UFC Fight Pass any time before the event begins to get access to all of the early preliminaries. You can, of course, still sign up after the fight begins to catch the remainder of the event. This service has a 7-day free trial, which you can cancel after the fight ends.
If you choose to keep it, Fight Pass costs $8.99 per month, and you can use it to watch past UFC events on-demand (which will likely include UFC 235 at some point after the event is over).
ESPN – Prelims
ESPN currently holds the broadcast rights in the US for UFC event prelims. You can get ESPN from the following over-the-top streaming services for free using their trial periods:
- Sling TV (Sling Orange, 7-day free trial, $25/month after)
- YouTube TV (7-day free trial, $40/month)
- DirecTV Now (Live A Little package, 7-day free trial, $40/month after)
- Hulu + Live TV (7-day free trial, $44.99/month after)
- PlayStation Vue (Access package, 5-day free trial, $44.99/month after)
- HDHomeRun Premium TV (14-day free trial, $34.99/month after)
You can also get ESPN using traditional cable, although the cost of entry is much higher, and you’ll be locked into a long-term contract in most cases without the option for a free trial period.
Pay-Per-View – UFC 235 main event
As is often the case with UFC events, the main fight card (Jones vs. Smith and 4 other fights) will broadcast live online, but you’ll need to use a Pay-Per-View option to get it. The cost across the board is $64.99 for access, but you can get an HD stream of the fight with a 50 percent discount on six months of UFC Fight Pass if you use UFC.tv.
Here are your options to get PPV access to UFC 235:
US residents who want to watch the entire event, from prelims to main cards, may want to use the free trials from UFC Fight Pass and one of the services carrying ESPN, and then only pay for the main event PPV. Using Sling TV is an easy way to streamline this process because Sling TV is the only cable-free, live TV service that provides PPV broadcasts.
US VPN bypass for UFC 235 prelims and main card events
The UFC will offer both the early prelims and prelims on UFC Fight Pass in other countries, including Germany. To save some hassle signing up to multiple services, you may want to sign up to UFC Fight Pass via free trial, and then connect to a different country to watch the early events.
We’ve tested VPN options and found UFC Fight Pass offers content based on where you’re located, so you should be able to get the early prelims and prelims using a VPN connection to a Germany server or other server where UFC Fight Pass offers both the prelims and early prelims.
Meanwhile, you can sign up for DAZN in the US with a 30-day trial. From there, you might be able to use a VPN to connect to a German server and bypass DAZN’s geographic content blocking. DAZN Germany is currently offering the main card event.
Note that DAZN’s VPN blocking is among the strictest we’ve tested. And while we’ve been able to unblock some DAZN locations via VPN (including Canada and Sweden), our results with DAZN Germany have been mixed. It’s worth testing since the payoff is good, but if it doesn’t work, you’ll need to contact ExpressVPN’s customer support or turn to one of the other options listed above for the main event PPV.
Where else to watch UFC 235 live online
UFC events are available worldwide. UFC Fight Pass is available in almost every country, for example, as is UFC’s Pay-Per-View option. Some countries are also carrying the main event on different channels and at a lower cost than in the US.
United Kingdom coverage
BT Sport is the current rights holder for UFC main event broadcasts in the UK.
You’ll be able to watch UFC 235 Jones vs. Smith live on BT Sport 2. Unfortunately, you can’t get BT Sport as a standalone streaming option unless you have BT internet service. Otherwise, you’ll need to sign up to BT Sport via Sky TV, BT TV, Talk Talk or other service providers. You can, however, usually add the channel to your current cable subscription, or through your BT internet service, with a free trial period.
For the prelims and early prelims, you’ll need to use UFC Fight Pass, which you can get with a free trial.
Australian fight fans can purchase streaming access to the main fight card through Main Event, while the early prelims and prelims will be available through UFC Fight Pass. Access to the fight will cost $54.95 AUD through Main Event and requires a Foxtel cable subscription.
You can also purchase access to the fight through UFC’s Pay-Per-View… but for $71.49 AUD. If you have Foxtel and can get the fight through Main Event, we’d recommend that option instead. Or, if you have a VPN and payment information for another country where the fight is cheaper through the UFC, you’ll also save money that way.
German fight fans have it the best, yet again! Fans in Germany can watch the main card fights, including Jones vs. Smith, live on DAZN. And if you sign up for a free trial, you can do so without paying any money at all.
If you’re in Germany, you’ll also be able to get access to the early prelims and prelims through UFC Fight Pass. This means German UFC fans can watch the entire UFC 235 event for free, start to finish.
If you’re looking to watch UFC 235 live online in Canada, you’ll need to use a mixture of services.
To get the early preliminary matches, you’ll need to sign up to UFC Fight Pass. This service comes with a free, 7-day trial similar to other locations. The preliminary matches, however, are only available through either TSN or RDS. You can get access to TSN/RDS through a cable provider or as a standalone service known as TSN/RDS Direct.
Unfortunately, TSN/RDS Direct does not come with a free trial, and you cannot get a refund after signing up to the service. TSN/RDS Direct is $24.99 CAD per month.
Finally, if you want to get the main card of the event, you’ll need to purchase access through UFC.tv’s Pay-Per-View service. You’ll need to shell out $64.99 CAD, or $91.96 CAD if you want the fight in HD alongside a 50 percent discount on six months of UFC Fight Pass.
All that said, a VPN is going to be a handy thing for Canadian fight fans. If you sign up to UFC Fight Pass with the 7-day trial, you can connect to a VPN server in Germany to get both the prelims and early prelims without having to use TSN/RDS Direct.
And if you sign up for the 30-day trial of DAZN, you might also be able to bypass the need to watch the main event through UFC at the currently outrageous price offered. A VPN might work to get past DAZN’s geographic content blocking for Germany, where the main event is available, which could let you stream the fight for free as well.
How to watch UFC 235 Jones vs. Smith abroad
Options to live stream UFC 235 may not be available everywhere. If you’re traveling or living abroad in a location where the event is unavailable, you will need to connect to a VPN to gain access. However, you will also need a payment method for those locations.
UFC Fight Pass will work in most countries as long as you have a VPN connection to countries where the fight is available. However, getting Pay-Per-View access may prove difficult, even with a VPN.
You can watch UFC 235 Jones vs. Smith on Amazon Firestick
Many viewers will be connecting via mobile apps. The popular Amazon Firestick will be a top choice, and you can utilize available apps for the Firestick. Both UFC Fight Pass and DAZN have apps that can be used, and ExpressVPN has an app for Amazon Fire TV devices should you need to bypass geographic restrictions or need to avoid ISP video throttling.
Additionally, BT Sport has an app for Amazon Fire TV devices in the UK.

How to bet on UFC 235 Jones vs. Smith
The anticipation for this fight doesn’t just reside in the action. Sports betting on UFC events is more popular than ever, and many UFC fans have been eagerly waiting for the chance to throw their lots in with either of these two fights.
If you’re hoping to bet on the main event, a Smith victory is drawing the most attention. At present, different betting site averages have the #3 ranked Light Heavyweight fighter as the underdog. Moneyline bets are heavily positive for Smith, meaning many are hoping to win big on the unlikely chance that the “Lionheart” wins the fight.
The site Oddsshark, for example, has an overwhelming 67/33 ratio with most bets on the Jon “Bones” Jones. Meanwhile, sports betting aggregator Oddschecker also shows a 59/41 split in favor of a Jones victory.
It appears most believe that Jones will take the win, and by a fairly large margin, so they’re throwing their money behind an unlikely (and highly rewarding) Smith victory.
If you’re hoping to take a chance on one fighter or the other, you can do so quite easily by using various online betting sites. But if you’re traveling abroad to a country where your favorite betting site is unavailable, you may need to use a VPN to connect to place bets.
