How to watch Wimbledon 2019 on Kodi with a VPN

The 2019 Wimbledon matches will be available through numerous international TV networks, some of which are free-to-air in their respective countries. Residents in countries without free access, such as the US and Canada, can turn to a few Kodi addons that offer this free-to-air content. However, a VPN will be required to unblock content and access to those live streams.

To get started with your VPN, do the following:

  1. Create a VPN account. We recommend IPVanish for Kodi users in most case. However, some addons, like iPlayer WWW, might require other VPN options. A few good alternatives include ExpressVPNNordVPN, or CyberGhost.
  2. Install your VPN app onto your selected devices. For best results, you should install your VPN app onto the same devices you have your Kodi app installed, and where you plan to stream your content.
  3. Connect to a server in the country where your streams are available. Depending on which Kodi addon you’re using, you may need to connect to VPN servers in locations like Australia, Switzerland, or the UK, among other options.
  4. Install the Kodi addons you plan to use and connect to your streams.

There is no guarantee that any Kodi addon we recommend will work to access Wimbledon. You may need to test your addon and VPN options prior to the matches you want to see to ensure you have access before game time.

Zattoo Box is a European streaming service that offers access to hundreds of live TV networks from across the EU. There’s a free version you can easily sign up to, even from outside of the EU, that offers the following networks that are scheduled to carry Wimbledon 2019:

  • Eurosport
  • BBC1
  • BBC2
  • RTS, RSI, SRF (Swiss networks from SRG/SSR TV)

If you’re in a country where Wimbledon streams come at a cost, Zattoo Box is your best option. Normally, BBC broadcasts require a UK TV License, but Zattoo Box appears to legally offer broadcasts to BBC streams without this requirement. The service’s other channels are also free and clear.

You can install this addon directly from the official Kodi addon repository.

Wimbledon and tennis, in general, is a popular sport in Australia. Unsurprisingly, you can get live streams to Wimbledon events on free-to-air Australian TV. This year, that’s happening through the channel Seven.

The IPTV AU Kodi addon offers access to free-to-air Australian TV channels, including Seven.

Next, open your Kodi app, go to Addons and then click on the Package Symbol. Then, click in Install from zip and locate your downloads location. Find the repositry.matthuisman zip file, and click to install.

BBC iPlayer (iPlayer WWW) – Quick BBC access for UK sports fans

BBC iPlayer addon wimbledon 2019 live

The BBC iPlayer is going to be a great option to watch Wimbledon 2019 live online through Kodi if you’re in the UK, or traveling abroad from the UK. This addon provides users with a direct connection to BBC’s iPlayer streams. The iPlayer WWW also does not require any login information and avoids a lot of the excess menu clicking that you have to suffer through on the web browser.

You can install the addon directly from the official Kodi addon repository.

That said, the iPlayer is still only available for UK residents with a TV License. The service does not double check to ensure you have one, but by law, only UK residents who have a TV License can view BBC iPlayer streams. If you’re traveling from the UK, you can view the iPlayer’s content through Kodi from anywhere in the world.

Unfortunately, IPVanish will not work with the iPlayer, either through Kodi, or any other medium. However, you can use ExpressVPN to unlock the BBC iPlayer. ExpressVPN is our recommended alternative for the iPlayer as it works well, maintains a high level of encryption and user protection standards, and ensures you won’t deal with buffering or bandwidth issues while connected.
