You should note that we’ll only be recommending official sources. Although popular shows like So You Think You Can Dance are often available on shady streaming sites, we strongly recommend avoiding these. To start with, they often only provide laggy, low-resolution video. Further, there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to watch every episode as streams can be taken offline at any time for copyright violation. It’s easy to watch this show online anyway, so there’s no need to use unauthorized sources.

FOX is only available in the US, so you’ll need a VPN to stream So You Think You Can Dance abroad.

Best VPN for So You Think You Can Dance: ExpressVPN

VPNs encrypt your network traffic, preventing your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and employer from seeing what you get up to online. Additionally, as VPNs route your traffic through servers in other countries, they allow you to spoof your location and access geo-restricted platforms abroad. We recommend ExpressVPN: it’s a fast, security-conscious VPN with more than 3,000 servers in 94 countries. Better still, this service is able to unblock a huge range of streaming services including Netflix US, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu from anywhere in the world.

You can get started with ExpressVPN in a matter of minutes. This service offers one-month, six-month, or annual subscriptions, and while it doesn’t log any information which could identify you, there’s also the option to pay with Bitcoin. Best of all, ExpressVPN includes a 30-day money-back guarantee. This means you can try it risk-free and claim a full refund if you’re unsatisfied or only needed a VPN for a short time.

BEST VPN FOR FOX:ExpressVPN offers reliable, high-speed connections, strong security and privacy features, and excellent unblocking ability. With apps for every major operating system, you’ll be able to stream safely both at home and on-the-go.

How to watch So You Think You Can Dance abroad

New to VPNs and not sure how to get started? Don’t worry: unblocking geo-restricted streaming services is actually quite simple. Follow the steps below to live stream So You Think You Can Dance abroad:

  1. Start by signing up for a VPN if you haven’t already. We’ve touched upon ExpressVPN already but NordVPN and CyberGhost are both fantastic low-cost alternatives.
  2. Install the VPN software, taking care to get the appropriate version for your device.
  3. Connect to a US server. This show will be broadcast nationwide, so the city your server is in doesn’t matter.
  4. Try playing a video on the Fox website. It should load without any issues but if you still see an error, try clearing your cookies and cache, then refreshing the page.

So You Think You Can Dance will be broadcast live, so we recommend that you run through the steps above before it’s due to air. This way, if you experience any problems, you’ll still have time to contact your VPN’s customer support team for help, and might not have to miss the start of the episode.

How to stream SYTYCD live online

So You Think You Can Dance will air exclusively on FOX. Luckily, this makes it quite simple to watch the show online. If you have cable TV, you can just sign in with your provider details and start streaming FOX live at no added cost. Don’t have cable? You can also login with a DirecTV Now, fuboTV, Hulu with Live TV, PlayStation Vue, Sling TV, or YouTube TV subscription.

Each of these services comes with a free trial (a week long in most cases). This means that if you sign up to multiple streaming services and cancel before each trial ends, you can watch the first few episodes for free. However, So You Think You Can Dance season 16 will run for several months meaning sooner or later, you’ll have to pay. Sling TV is the least expensive way to watch live, at $15 USD per month; just make sure to choose the Blue package as it’s the only one that includes FOX.

New episodes will also be added to Hulu’s on-demand library shortly after airing. If you aren’t bothered about watching live, this is likely the best option, since Hulu’s base subscription is far less expensive at just $5.99 per month.

FOX is region-locked, and attempting to watch from outside of the US results in the following error: “Geographic Restriction – This content is not available in your location.” However, you can still stream FOX abroad by connecting to a US VPN server.

Can I watch old seasons of So You Think You Can Dance online?

Unfortunately, there’s no way to stream previous seasons of SYTYCD online. Hulu makes each series available on-demand but removes older episodes when a new season begins. You can, however, find short clips and highlights on the official So You Think You Can Dance YouTube channel.

How does this show work?

If you’ve ever seen a TV talent show, you’ll have a good idea of how this show works. Contestants first attend an open audition, where they showcase their skills in front of the judges. If a majority of judges think they’re good enough, the dancer then progresses to the next stage. They can also choose to send them directly to the second round; this is called giving them a “ticket to the Academy”.

The second stage (Academy Week) is designed to whittle down the number of dancers from hundreds to around 40. They’re put through a series of challenges designed to assess their ability to adapt to different styles, perform under pressure, and dance in a group.

Stage three is where the competition really begins. The remaining dancers are paired off and asked to perform every week, sometimes twice. The viewers can then vote for the couple they feel was the best, with the two lowest-scoring participants being eliminated. This continues for around eight weeks, until only two dancers remain.

What do we know about season 16?

As ever, Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy will be joined by two other judges. However, Vanessa Hudgens and Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss are being replaced by professional dancers Laurieann Gibson and Dominic Sandoval.

In a trailer for the upcoming season, host Cat Deeley mentions that So You Think You Can Dance season 16 will have a “brand new look,” although it’s not quite clear yet how this will affect the show. It could be as simple as a new logo, but only time will tell.
