Oxylabs provides a proxy server network and web scraping tools that allow businesses to collect online public data at scale. It offers a variety of proxy types and scraping tools to suit practically every business use case.

Oxylabs review summary

Oxylabs is a top-tier web scraping proxy service provider that offers an impressive host of proxy services and web scraping tools. Mobile proxies, residential proxies, and ISP proxies are all available. The proxies and tools can be customized to suit your use case. The service provides its users with a comprehensive dashboard to set up, manage, and deploy their proxies, which is efficient and useful but also somewhat limited.

Because Oxylabs’ dashboard is limited in functionality, you really have to know what you’re doing to get the most out of your subscription, as the bulk of your scraping activities will occur in third-party software or a terminal window. New users may be somewhat intimidated by Oxylabs’ approach. Oxylabs also costs more than other web scraping providers.

Still, if you’re looking for a comprehensive web scraping solution that you can easily adapt to your business case (as long as you know what you’re doing), Oxylabs will serve you well. It is recommended.

Data Sets

Not everyone wants to invest the effort or money in web scraping. Oxylabs maintains a few commonly requested data sets that can be bought directly. If you don’t want to get into proxy management and scraping, you can probably find what you need in its bank of pre-built data sets.

The user interface

Oxylabs provides its users with a centralized web UI. From the UI, you can manage your subscriptions, proxies, tools, and data sets. It’s really just a management UI; the actual scraping happens using your terminal, Postman, or your automation software (Selenium, Puppeteer, Playwright, etc.).

That can be seen as both a blessing and a curse. Because you must do most of your work outside the UI, it keeps the dashboard clean, lean, and straightforward. However, the learning curve will be a bit steeper because of that. You need to know what you’re doing to use Oxylabs’ service adequately. Some of its competitors allow you to do more than manage your services in the web UI.

Chrome extension & Android app

Another way to manage your proxies is to install Oxylabs’ Chrome extension or Android app. Both are free.

The Chrome extension Oxy Proxy allows you to add and switch proxies and connect to the selected proxy server. It doesn’t just work with Oxylabs proxies; you can use the extension to manage any and all your web proxies from any provider.

The Android Oxy Proxy Manager app can be downloaded from the Google Play store. Like the Chrome extension, it allows you to manage and connect to your proxies. It also supports proxy servers from any provider and for any purpose.

Regarding customer support, each product page in the dashboard includes an Information tab, which includes a Getting Started video for that product, a link to its documentation, and a button to access its chatbot, access more support resources, or schedule a meeting with Oxylabs.

You also have a direct link to your assigned account manager. Clicking the link lets you email your account manager or start a chat session.

And my account manager even emailed me directly to ask if they could assist me with anything after signing-up, along with helpful links to various support resources. Well done.

Do I recommend Oxylabs?

I do. Oxylabs is an excellent proxy/web scraping service that provides an extensive range of options and features. Regardless of your specific scraping requirements, Oxylabs’ service will very likely cater to them. It covered its bases with its wide range of proxy types.

We’ve previously mentioned that this service was on the more expensive side. However, it recently cut its prices while providing the same excellent results, so I’ll leave it to you (and your use cases) to decide whether or not it’s worth trying out.

The service also provides good customer support options, assigning a dedicated account manager to each user. And even if you don’t need to speak directly with your account manager, Oxylabs’ other support options (chat, knowledge base, documentation) should help you.

All in all, Oxylabs is recommended, though improvements to its dashboard would go a long way towards cementing it as a top contender.
