Season 14 of America’s Got Talent will premiere with a two-hour long episode at 5PM PST (8PM EST) on May 28. Initially, there’ll be a new episode every Tuesday, but the frequency will increase as the finale draws closer. Going off of previous seasons, we can expect this series to end sometime in September. There’s a lot to look forward to before then; below, we’ll explain how to watch every episode of America’s Got Talent for free online, wherever you are in the world.
This post will only recommend official sources. Given this show’s popularity, unauthorized streams are all but inevitable. However, we strongly advise against using these. The video quality is often very poor, to begin with, but unlicensed streams also run the risk of being taken offline partway through for copyright violation. With so many legitimate ways to watch America’s Got Talent online, there’s no reason to resort to unreliable third-party streams.
The streaming services showing America’s Got Talent are all region-locked. As such, you’ll need a VPN to access them from outside of the US.
How to watch America’s Got Talent abroad with a VPN
With the right VPN, it’s easy to bypass regional restrictions and stream geo-blocked content from abroad. Just follow the steps below:
- Start by signing up for a suitable VPN. We recommend ExpressVPN but NordVPN and CyberGhost are both strong, low-cost alternatives.
- Next, download and install the relevant version of the app for your device.
- Connect to one of your VPN’s American servers.
- Log in to your chosen service and try to play a video. It should load almost instantly, but if not, you can fix most problems by clearing your browser’s cookies and cache, then reloading the page.
Because America’s Got Talent will be broadcast live, it’s important to make sure your VPN works (using the steps above) well in advance. This approach ensures that you’ll still have time to get help from your VPN’s customer support team if anything goes wrong, and reduces the likelihood of you missing the start of an episode.
How to stream America’s Got Talent season 14 online for free
America’s Got Talent will air exclusively on NBC. This means if you have cable TV, you can log into the NBC website and begin streaming immediately at no extra cost. Additionally, NBC adds new episodes to its on-demand library shortly after they finish airing. While anyone in the US (or anyone using a VPN) can stream these for free without having to log in. On-demand content is only available for a month, so it pays to stay up-to-date.
But what if you don’t have cable and still want to watch America’s Got Talent live? Several over-the-top streaming services actually allow you to watch NBC live. If you’re already subscribed to fuboTV, Hulu with Live TV, YouTube TV, PlayStation Vue, Sling TV, or DirecTV Now, you’ll be able to stream America’s Got Talent either in the respective app or by signing in directly on NBC’s website.
While all of the above platforms offer a free trial (in most cases, seven days), none are long enough to watch the entire fourteenth series of America’s Got Talent. Sling TV is the least expensive of these services at $15 USD per month, but unless you want to watch other shows as well, your best bet is to simply stream America’s Got Talent on-demand.
Sling TV allows you to pay in gift cards, so it’s theoretically possible to sign up from anywhere. Having said that, the services above are only available in the US, so you’ll need a VPN to use them abroad.
Can I watch old seasons of America’s Got Talent online?
It is possible to watch previous seasons of America’s Got Talent online, but availability varies wildly from one country to another. Below, we explain how to watch older episodes in your country.
NBC currently allows you to watch all of America’s Got Talent season 13, and most of seasons 9 thru 12, free-of-charge. However, no major streaming platforms offers seasons 1-8, and they can’t even be purchased digitally on marketplaces like iTunes or Google Play.
Netflix recently added season 13 to its UK catalog. However, there’s no word yet on when British fans can expect to see the new series. There’s also a spin-off, titled America’s Got Talent: The Champions, which sees the winners of prior seasons face off for the title of World Champion.
Canadian fans can stream season 13 on-demand on CityTV. This platform doesn’t offer online-only passes, however, so you’ll need an existing cable TV subscription to watch anything. Currently, there’s no information as to when America’s Got Talent season 14 is coming to Canada but given Rogers Media’s tight grip on the country’s broadcasting, it’ll likely be sooner rather than later.
AXN Asia is currently showing the 13th series, meaning you can watch it online via platforms like MyTV Super in Hong Kong, Astro GO in Malaysia, and Canal+ in Myanmar. There are only a few episodes left, though, so unless you’re already a subscriber, it’s not really worth signing up for any of these services, especially since an international release date for season 14 hasn’t been announced yet.
How does America’s Got Talent work?
America’s Got Talent has a pretty straightforward format. First, contestants audition in front of a panel of judges. Each judge then votes on whether they should progress to the next round or not. To move forward, each contestant needs a majority of judges to back them: in other words, in the event of a tie, the performer will be eliminated from the competition. The judges also has what’s called a “Golden Buzzer” that allows them to push an act through regardless of what the other judges think. This can only be used once per season, however.
Next up are the “Judge’s Cuts”. The judges are joined by four guests and together, they whittle the remaining contestants down until only the best remain.
Finally, there are the live performances. Each contestant performs one more time, and the public votes on which it liked best. The top four acts go head-to-head, again relying on public votes, until only one remains. The winner then receives $1,000,000 and usually goes on to become a successful artist, at least for a few years.
Who are the America’s Got Talent season 14 judges?
Judging went through some pretty substantial changes to the lineup this year. Mel B and Heidi Klum are both leaving to focus on other ventures (a new reality show and a Spice Girls revival tour, respectively). They’ll be replaced by actress Gabrielle Union and singer Julianne Hough. Additionally, Tyra Banks will no longer be hosting. She’s had a busy year with the release of Life-Size 2 and allegedly has a major project to announce later in 2019. Instead, Terry Crews (who previously hosted America’s Got Talent: The Champions) will take over hosting duties.
