When is the Dune release date in the US?
Dune will release to cinemas across America on October 18, and in the UK on October 21. In Japan, the film will be released slightly earlier, on October 15.
Elsewhere, in countries like Italy, the movie came out 5 weeks earlier, at the start of September. The early European release is attributed to the continent’s major film festivals. Presumably, because Warner Bros wanted to capitalize off the back of the publicity the film received at those events.

What is Dune about?

Paul, who it is revealed is gifted and has been trained in the art of warfare, must travel to the universe’s most dangerous location—planet Arrakis (known as Dune) to fulfill his destiny by attempting to bring peace to the universe for his family and people.
The planet is at the heart of ongoing conflict, because it is the only place in the universe where the spice Melange is available. That peculiar substance is necessary for safe space travel, consumed by Spacing Guild Navigators to manage the lightspeed jumps necessary for interstellar travel. The spice is also considered the most precious commodity in the universe because of its ability to prolong life, bestow vitality, and even bestow prescience to its consumer.
To bring peace, Paul must win the trust of the Fremen; a race of people native to Dune. To achieve this, he must conquer the addictive spice, and his fears, by facing the dreaded sandworms on the hot and arid Dunes of Arrakis.
