Cartoon Crazy Kodi addon

As a parent, you know how difficult it is to find child-friendly content online. There are lots of Kodi addons offering access to cartoons, but these are often mixed in with titles that aren’t suitable for kids. Today, we’ll be looking into the Cartoon Crazy addon and revealing whether it’s worth using, what other options are out there, and most importantly, whether this addon is even legal.

How to use Kodi safely and privately

Kodi is easy to use but like any software, it has its downsides. One of these is that anyone can create addons — while this allows users to access a huge range of content, this lack of professional oversight means that there may be vulnerabilities that could allow hackers to see what you get up to online.

You can offset some of this risk by connecting to a Virtual Private Network, or VPN. These services encrypt your data, preventing it from being read, which not only keeps your online activities private, but can also stop your ISP from throttling your connection.

We recommend NordVPN. This is a reputable, well-known service with some of the strongest security and streaming abilities we’ve seen. It’s also one of the fastest VPNs on the market, boasting a no-logs policy and 24/7 support. There’s even a dedicated Firestick app making it ideal for Kodi users.

NordVPN is offering a fully-featured risk-free 30-day trial if you sign up at this page. You can use the VPN rated #1 for Kodi with no restrictions for a month.

There are no hidden terms—just contact support within 30 days if you decide NordVPN isn't right for you and you'll get a full refund. Start your NordVPN trial here.

Comparitech does not condone or encourage any violation of copyright restrictions, including illegal streaming through Kodi. Kodi can be used for many excellent, legal online streaming purposes. Please consider the law, victims, and risks of piracy before downloading or streaming copyrighted material without permission. Always do your own research before accessing any Kodi add-on, stream or repository.

What is the Cartoon Crazy Kodi addon?

Cartoon Crazy is what’s known as a third-party addon. This means that it’s not included in the official Kodi addon repository. Like most third-party addons, it pulls content from a variety of websites, not all of which are properly licensed. That’s why Cartoon Crazy lets users stream popular shows without requiring them to log in or pay anything.

Now, even putting aside the legal issues with this, there are real security risks to consider. The only way to get Cartoon Crazy on Kodi is to install it from a third-party repository. Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to tell if the repo you’re installing is actually safe or whether it contains malware. The risk is even higher if you’re using a repo that’s not particularly well-known, such as those that contain Cartoon Crazy.

For these reasons, we do not recommend installing Cartoon Crazy. Instead, we recommend using the alternative addons listed below.

Alternatives to the Cartoon Crazy Kodi addon

Unlike Cartoon Crazy, the following addons are known to only stream content from sources that compensate content-creators for their work. They can be found on the official Kodi repository unless otherwise noted.

PBS Kids

PBS Kids

PBS Kids is the children’s programming wing of public television in the United States. It is funded mostly through private donations, with a small portion of its cost provided by Congress.

The PBS Kids Kodi addon allows children to watch a large assortment of popular kids shows from this network, including Arthur, Bob the Builder, Caillou, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and many others.

This addon is available for free, and the programming has no commercials.

TV Ontario Kids

Ontario Kids

TV Ontario Kids is the children’s programming wing of the English-language public television service in Canada. Like its U.S. counterpart, it is funded through a combination of government subsidies and private donations.

It carries many entertaining and fun Canadian cartoons and kids shows, some of which are well-known outside the borders of Canada. Bing, Alfred Hedgehog, Paw Patrol, and Floogals are just a few of the titles available.

The TV Ontario Kids addon can be found in the official Kodi repository.

BBC iPlayer

BBC iPlayer Kodi Addon

BBC iPlayer is the online service of the British Broadcasting Corporation. It provides access to all of the programming you would find on live television on any of the BBCs channels.

Of special note to parents, it provides access to both CBBC and CBeebies. CBBC has programming for kids ages 6 to 15 while CBeebies has programming aimed at children 6 and under.

The BBC iPlayer Kodi addon allows you to access content from both of these channels through your Kodi, greatly expanding the number of entertaining videos you can provide to your children.

BBC iPlayer is only available to residents of the UK.

YouTube Channels

YouTube Channels

There is a ton of child-friendly content on YouTube but unfortunately, there’s also a huge number of unsuitable videos. That’s why we recommend using the YouTube Channels addon instead of the standard YouTube one.

The main difference is that YouTube Channels allows parents to specify which channels a child is allowed to watch. You can also hide the menus so that children can’t simply add whatever they want to the list.

Overview and privacy concerns

There’s no question that the Cartoon Crazy Kodi addon is effective at finding children’s shows and movies to stream. But the content it streams is provided by sources that do not pay creators for the work they’ve done entertaining children. If you want only licensed, authorized content, Cartoon Crazy doesn’t have much to offer.

In addition, Cartoon Crazy is a third-party addon that is not part of the official Kodi repository. This means it has not gone through the same vetting process these other addons have. This makes it more risky when compared to the other options.

For these reasons, Cartoon Crazy is not the best way to get cartoons and children’s programs through Kodi. Luckily, there are lots of fully legal, entirely legitimate ways to watch cartoons on Kodi, and we’ve listed a few of the best addons for doing so.

Watching cartoons on Kodi: FAQs

Is Kodi legal?

Kodi is just a media center app. It doesn’t come with any content of its own, so there’s nothing inherently illegal about it. However, this software has gained a negative reputation because users have created a lot of copyright-infringing addons. The Kodi Foundation has fought back against piracy, though, and its official repo only contains addons that pull from properly-licensed sources. In other words, the only way to stream pirated material is to actively seek it out by installing third-party repositories.

Disclaimer: Although we’ve spent hours researching this topic, we are not legal experts. As such, nothing we’ve said above should be taken as legal advice. We encourage you to consult local laws if you’re concerned about whether Kodi is legal in your country.

How do I set parental controls on Kodi?

Kodi has quite a robust set of parental controls built-in. You can, for instance, prevent children from accessing specific TV channels, installing their own addons, or changing settings. We have a post that explains exactly how to restrict content on Kodi, and this even lists a few of the best addons for kids.

Remember: no content-restriction system is foolproof. Particularly determined children will always be able to find a way around your blocks, which is why it’s important to talk with them about why these restrictions are active in the first place.
