123 Best Kodi Addons working as of September 2018

Published by on September 12, 2018 in Kodi

Looking for the best Kodi addons that still work in September 2018? Look no further! We’ve poured through dozens of Kodi addon repositories and searched through hundreds of addons, such as Exodus, Covenant, Incursion, and more, to discover which ones work, which are legal, and which are ready for the Kodi addon trash heap. Whether you’re looking for movie or TV addons to view online in the US, Canada, Australia, UK, Germany, or anywhere in the world, our list will serve you well.

For September 2018, we’ve refined our list even further with a wide selection of great new addons.

Congress recently voted to remove legislation that stopped your internet provider from selling your personal data. Broadband providers can now collect their customers’ internet browsing histories and sell them to advertisers without asking for permission.

Beware: New laws mean your internet provider can sell and share your browsing data

Your internet provider could sell and share details about the websites you visit, videos you download or stream and social media sites you use. By using a VPN whenever you connect to the web, you can encrypt your connection so your broadband provider doesn’t know what you’re doing. All your web activity will be hidden and can’t be shared, sold or stolen.

We’ve tested the top VPNs for security, privacy and speed and IPVanish is our #1 choice for Kodi users.

Best Kodi addons (to avoid) in September 2018:

  1. Covenant
  2. Exodus
  3. cCloud TV
  4. Genesis Reborn
  5. Gurzil
  6. Incursion
  7. Placenta
  8. Gaia
  9. Orion
  10. Reaper Builds

Over the past several months, a large number of once-popular Kodi addons have shut down for good, with their developers leaving the scene. Most of the addons that are no longer available are already ones we tend to recommend users avoid, anyway, which include Exodus, Covenant, Genesis Reborn, cCloud TV, Gurzil, and others in those families. Meanwhile, a few have taken their place, namely Placenta, Gaia, and Incursion, which are both popular but also ones we don’t recommend.

  8. Golden Age
  9. Black and White Movies
  10. ITV
  11. DAZN
  12. PS Vue

This month, we’ve found numerous legally-available Kodi addons that you may be interested in. We’ve also updated our list of overall addons that tend to be popular in the Kodi scene, including those we don’t recommend for Kodi users, with some notes on each addon that we’ve found.

105 Best Kodi Addons of 2017

Kodi addons Septemeber 2018: Notes and highlights. Kodi 18 BETA release!

First up is the biggest news from the past month. Kodi 18 Beta has finally landed! The Kodi Foundation announced the release of Kodi v18 Leia Beta 1 on August 27. You can download the new Beta version from the official Kodi website.

If you’ve been playing around with Kodi v18 Leia Alpha, you’ll find that little has changed in the Beta version. The Beta version is considered the first true “stable” build, and the development team has moved toward making small changes to guarantee stability across the build before a final release.

September also brings with it some interesting developments in the unofficial Kodi scene. At present, there are no major shakeups (which is a good thing for most Kodi users), but there are some changes to be made aware of.

First, if you happen to frequent the Kodi subreddit /r/Addons4Kodi, you may have noticed some changes. Last month, the mod team changed over, and the forum got a bit of a facelift. The new mod team has also started implementing some needed changes, cleaning up much of the low-quality and repeat posts.

You’ll find that Addons4Kodi still recommends mostly third-party addons of questionable repute, so we don’t recommend the majority of addons posted there. However, there are some notable names that frequent the forum, so you may want to check it out just to see what’s going on in the Kodi scene.

For more official sources, we recommend the subreddit /r/Kodi.

Orion Joins the Scene

One piece of interesting Kodi news we’re following deals with Orion. This new addon and service is designed to work with GAIA, and is in many ways a replacement for the popular, but now dead, Alluc.ee.

Orion september 2018 best kodi addons

What that means for you is that Orion is definitely in the vein of primarily infringing services, so we won’t recommend this one. However, it will be interesting to see how this one takes off. Orion is actually an indexer that helps pull in link metadata. The designers have created it to share link results back to their servers so that each individual making the same searches can get results much faster. The service also costs money, making it somewhat like Real-Debrid.

Most recently, one Reddit user and Kodi addon developer has crafted a combined build for both GAIA and Orion called Reaper Builds. This build comes installed with GAIA, Incursion, Placenta, Orion, YouTube, 9Anime, Real-Debrid, Premiumize, and more. It’s designed to be a one-stop-shop of streaming for TV and movies, but it’s unfortunately heavily focused on infringing addons.

Keeping up with Kodi addons

With new addons appearing all the time and old addons becoming defunct, it can be difficult to keep abreast of all the new developments. To help, we’ve created a list of the best Kodi addons of September 2018

While some of these addons are third-party, this does not mean that we recommend using them. We define “best” here as only an indication of their popularity. As stated, we’ll also be keeping this list updated as addons are introduced or continued.

We encourage our readers to seek official sources of content, but we know there are several third-party addons that come highly recommended by other sites and forums. These addons are searched for more frequently than official addons, as shown in the graphic below.

best Kodi addons September 2018

Interestingly, our research shows that despite their dropped support, unavailability, and security risks, Covenant and Exodus appear to still be drawing a lot of traffic. Meanwhile, there are other third-party options that appear to have taken steam, most notably the Placenta and Incursion Kodi addons.

It’s important to remember that third-party addons provide unrestricted and unlicensed access to content and may not be legal to use in your country. Additionally, many of these unofficial addons stream from sites that may be putting your computer at a security risk. Meanwhile, most of the of the more popular unofficial addons that get recommended in other locations are no longer supported by their creators. Any working copies you find are a significant security risk.

We advise all Kodi users to research the laws in their country regarding streaming content online before attempting to use Kodi for this purpose.

Warning: Kodi should only be used for content to which you have the legal right to access. Neither the Kodi Foundation nor Comparitech advocates the use of Kodi for piracy.

Before we start: Always use a VPN with Kodi

Although virtual private networks (VPNs) are often used by people trying to hide their illegal activities from their ISP, there are many valid reasons law-abiding Kodi users should use one too.

If a Kodi addon were to be hijacked, the user’s computer would be at the mercy of the attacker. By using a Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) attack, hackers have access to all of the victim’s internet history, saved browser information, and even login credentials.

Also, several internet service providers (ISPs) have been known to deliberately limit the download speeds of their customers in an effort to combat online video streaming. This could leave you with speeds far below those that you pay for.

A VPN can help secure your computer against corrupted addons used for spying purposes. You will also find a solid VPN will help eliminate spying from your ISP and reduce instances of buffering and speed throttling.

We recommend using IPVanish. It’s not only fast with top-level security and no-logging policies in place, it also is one of the few that have working apps for the Amazon Firestick

IPVanish includes a 7-day money back guarantee so you can cancel if you are unhappy for any reason.

Best Kodi addons for movies

Some of the most popular Kodi addons are the ones that offer a wide selection of movies. These include:

  1. Crackle
  2. TubiTV
  3. YouTube
  4. FilmRise
  5. SnagFilm
  6. Big Star Movies
  7. BFI

The official Kodi repository offers addons that not only allow you to browse a large collection of free movies but also expand that collection by integrating with your other streaming subscriptions.

Crackle

Crackle is a streaming service that has a varied selection of films and TV shows. It’s free to use and offers some better known titles, like 2003’s Underworld. Crackle region-locks their content, so to watch, you’ll need to connect your VPN to an American server.

This service is completely legal to use and unlike when using the BigStar online service, you don’t have to keep a credit card on file. This is only used for purchasing specific films. Since this can’t be done via the addon, payment it isn’t required.

Location: MetalChris Addon Repository

Snagfilms

Snagfilms offers a collection of documentaries and independent films. There are over 5000 free-to-watch movies, and they’re all organized by genre. While most of these films aren’t well known, some, like 2007’s Nanking, are critically acclaimed.

TubiTV

Best Kodi addons June 2018 TubiTV

TubiTV is one of the largest streaming video-on-demand websites around. The service boasts a library of over 50,000 titles, from movies to TV shows. Additionally, there is no fee to use TubiTV. It offers the service as a free, ad-supported option.

You can stream TubiTV on Kodi without a login required and without the ads. Due to the way it works, Kodi automatically blocks advertisements, letting you enjoy your streams quite easily and without interruption. If you want to unlock TubiTV’s full library, you will need a VPN, however. The service has different content in the US, UK, and Canada, meaning you’ll need to bypass its geographic content blocking to gain access gain access to everything.

Golden Age

Golden Age

Can’t get enough of the good old days of cinema? The Golden Age Kodi addon has you covered. This addon offers up nothing but goodies from the days when movies were more about the acting talent and writing than CG explosions. And thankfully, all of the movies offered through Golden Age are freely available to the public. You can find this addon in the Zero Tolerance Repo.

Documented.HD

Documented.HD Best Kodi addons July 2018

Free, HD-quality documentaries are available at your fingertips with Documented.HD. With topics available from politics to science and technology, Documented.HD is a high-quality source for those who like to learn while being entertained.

Black and White Movies

Classic movies are available for streaming and downloading using the Black and White Movies addon. This addon focuses purely on classic movies that are made free thanks to expired copyright licenses. The quality and speed of the streams are also top-notch

You can download Black and White Movies from the MetalChris repository.

liveBFI

The British Film Institute has an extremely large array of free movies to watch. You’ll find that BFI provides more content than you can imagine, with a ton of classic movies and hard-to-find documentaries on British culture and history that you won’t find anywhere else.

You can download BFI from the official Kodi addon repository.

Third-party addons

The following addons are unofficial and primarily provide access to unlicensed content. We’ve included these addons as they’re very popular, however, we do not recommend Kodi users install or use them to stream content.

10. Quasar

Quasar is a Kodi addon that gathers content from P2P networks. These addons are riskier than traditional link-scraping alternatives due to the fact that they allow other devices to access your computer. P2P networks are primarily (but not exclusively) used for sharing unlicensed content, so Quasar is a poor choice for people who want to watch content from official sources.

SafeHouse Movies

The SafeHouse Movies addon has a library of TV shows and movies. These are not officially licensed and watching with SafeHouse Movies prevents the creators from profiting from their work. If you’d like to encourage similar content to be created in the future, we recommend using one of the official addons listed in the section above.

One Stop Films

One Stop Films contains several movies, but in addition to being unlicensed, they’re often low quality recordings filmed directly from the movie theater. There are far better official alternatives available and we recommend Kodi users install these instead.

Real-Movies

Real-Movies is a standard third-party movie addon. Its content is categorized loosely by genre and video quality, but even in the “Old-Skool” section, there are no public domain or properly licensed titles to watch.

Supra Box

The Supra Box Kodi addon provides links to movies, TV shows, and sports coverage. This content is poorly organized and only a small portion of it is correctly licensed, making it unsuitable for most users.

Fine and Dandy

The Fine and Dandy addon accumulates a media library by scraping links from several unofficial streaming websites. It is aimed at Kodi users who aren’t looking for official sources and has very little to help it stand out from the crowd of similar addons.

JAFMA

JAFMA is very similar to the other movie addons in the Dandymedia repo. It has the same long loading times that plague the Fine and Dandy addon. Like Fine and Dandy, JAFMA doesn’t seem to distinguish itself in any way from the scores of similar addons.

Beau’s Place

Beau’s Place is an all-in-one addon that gathers TV shows, movies, and live TV streams from around the web. Its media library is unorganized, with several similarly named categories, and there’s no way to add legitimate content providers.

Fear of the Dark

Fear of the Dark is an addon that boasts an extensive library of horror movies. Unfortunately, most of these are unlicensed and some of them are recorded directly from the movie theater. As a result, we don’t recommend using the Fear of the Dark Kodi addon to stream movies.

Fear of the Dark went offline in November, so if you do happen to stumble upon a download location for this addon, it’s likely not trustworthy.

Poseidon

Poseidon is yet another movie and TV shows addon. Its content is well-grouped and there are even playlists available. However, Poseidon does not use official sources and is not suitable for most Kodi users as a result. The Poseidon addon is now officially offline.

Poseidon Kodi addon Best Kodi addons

Falcon Project

The Falcon Project Kodi addon collects movies and TV shows from around the web before grouping them into playlists. This addon shares the same problems as Falcon Sports and Falcon Ultra TV, namely that they don’t use legitimate sources.

Incursion

A new Kodi addon arising in just the past month, Incursion is one of the many Covenant clones popping into existence. As with Covenant, Incursion utilizes unlicensed streams from third-party sources, delivered directly into Kodi for easy viewing. Incursion is currently gaining popularity for two reasons: it’s built on the architecture continued by Covenant, and it fixes some of the issues many users had with Covenant before it went down.

As this addon does not use many official sources for streaming, we do not recommend its use. However, we will continue to watch where this addon goes and whether it draws notable attention from anti-piracy organizations.

Placenta

Somewhat confusing title aside, Placenta follows along with Incursion as a newer Covenant/Exodus fork to hit the scene in the past few weeks. Beyond the name, there is little difference between this addon and Incursion. This addon is delivered through the same source as Neptune Rising mentioned above, although it is a separate fork.

We do not recommend this addon be used.

Oculus

A new addon from a new third-party repository, Oculus relies heavily on information derived from TDMB, an iMDB competitor. As for sourcing its content, however, most of the films and TV shows come directly from unlicensed sources. We do not recommend Oculus, but will be following this new addon and its developments.

Rebirth 2017

Instead of forking Covenant, this addon is a fork of the much older Exodus. As with Exodus, Rebirth 2017 relies heavily on pirated content and is therefore not an addon that we recommend. Interestingly, however, this addon is offered by several different repositories, most of which may not be trustworthy. As a result, we strongly discourage users from downloading this addon.

Uranus

uranus kodi addon Best Kodi addons

The Uranus Kodi addon is designed to feed TV and movie streams directly to your Kodi software. Much like the most other third-party addons, Uranus pulls in these streams from unofficial sources that do not have proper content licenses. There are some dangerous in that, alongside the legal issues that may exist with streaming from such sources depending on where you live.

Iron Man

Although the Zero Tolerance team has some good, legally-focused addons, a few of their addons do break copyrights. Iron Man is just one of them. Iron Man pulls in streams unofficially from various sources. We do not recommend this addon for those looking for legitimate streaming options.

Legacy

A spiritual successor and fork of the much older Exodus Kodi addon, Legacy also shares the same problems that Exodus did. While a large amount of content is available throguh this addon, very little of it is offered from legal and official channels. We do not recommend this addon for Kodi users.

The Dog’s Bollocks

Funny name aside, The Dog’s Bollocks is a Kodi addon that offers a variety of content. And while there are some sections in the addon that utilize YouTube and official websites to offer legitimate streams, much of the content given is provided illegal. In fact, some of the streams are specifically from individuals taking ameras into movie theaters to illegally record. We do not recommend The Dog’s Bollocks for Kodi users.

Tombstone

Tombstone is an excellent addon. We rarely say that for addons we don’t recommend, but for fans of Western movies and TV shows, Tombstone is the real deal. And while the vast, vast, majority of its content comes from fully legitimate sources, a section fo what you’ll find here does come from copyright-infringing locations. As such, we can’t recommend users turn to Tombstone for content.

Wolf Pack

wolf pack

The project and work of several developers nad playlisters, Wolf Pack would be a fantastic addon to recommend if it offered content from legal sources. Unfortunately, Wolf Pack mostly relies on file lockers and streaming sites that break copyrights. We do not recommend Wolf Pack for streaming movies and TV shows.

Little H’s Stuff

In the description, Little H’s Stuff says the addon has the developer’s favorite YouTube channels and other videos. In reality, the majority of what you’ll find here are copyright-infringing movie streams. If the addon focused solely on the YouTube side, we would recommend it. Unfortunately, the other content makes this one we can’t suggest for Kodi users.

Chronos

The Chronos Kodi addon has a little bit of everything, with a larger focus on TV and movie streaming. It works well, but it’s not the going to provide users with much legally-available content. This is indicated through the addon’s description that it does not host any content. That’s usually a sign that it’s not offering content from official channels. As such, we do not recommend Chronos for Kodi users.

Midian

Midian is an interesting addon packed full of everything you might want to watch. A good amount of the content is completely legal to view (live web cams, similar to the popular Earth Cam, and workout videos from YouTube). However, a greater amount of the content available through Midian comes from unofficial, copyright-infringing sources. If not for that, we’d recommend Midian, but as it stands it’s not one we support.

Internet Archive [Video]

best kodi addons internet archive video

The Internet Archive [Video] addon gives you direct access to the Archive’s video section. This is a boon for anyone that wants to explore all of the content available on the Internet Archive, which is perhaps the biggest repository of random things on the internet. The Internet Archive was created to help keep a record of digital content, so you’ll find both random videos and high-quality content, all sharing the same space.

Best Kodi addons for TV shows

When it comes to watching TV shows, Kodi users have several options. There are several legitimate content providers that offer collections of well-known shows. These are usually free to watch, although there are a few that have additional costs.

Official addons

USTV Now

USTV Now is a service that provides access to live American TV channels. A free subscription provides streams from seven network TV stations. For $20 a month, you can unlock and additional 21 channels and DVR functionality.

Location: Kodi Addon Repository

iPlayer WWW

The iPlayer WWW Kodi addon takes content from the BBC’s iPlayer streaming platform. It offers live and on-demand TV shows, radio stations, and movies. iPlayer WWW is free to use but  requires a valid UK TV License. Additionally, its content is region-locked, so to watch from outside of the UK, you’ll have to connect your VPN to a British server.

Location: Kodi Addon Repository

NewsON

NewsON is the best Kodi addon for US news. It groups its live streams by state and shows which regions each station covers. Streams load quickly and while it’s a US-only news addon, there’s no region-locking. This means that it can be watched from anywhere in the world.

Location: Kodi Addon Repository

MeTV

MeTV offers classic TV shows at absolutely no cost. As you might expect, this doesn’t include any show that’s currently airing, instead providing access to older titles like I Love Lucy and The Twilight Zone. If you’re a fan of vintage television, there are few official addons that can compete with MeTV.

Location: Kodi Addon Repository

ITV

The ITV Kodi addon contains content from Britain’s ITV channels. There are dozens of TV shows on offer as well as a handful of live TV streams. Like the BBC, ITV region-locks its content, so you will need to connect your VPN to a British server in order to use the ITV Kodi addon.

Location: noobsandnerds Addon Repository

HGTV

HGTV stands for Home and Garden Television, and the network hosts full episodes of its shows online. These episodes can also be viewed from within Kodi using the HGTV addon. There are 17 different shows available, all in high-definition, so you can watch DIY programming to your heart’s desire.

Location: Kodi Addon Repository

PS Vue

PS Vue is intended as a replacement for a traditional cable subscription. Plans start at $39 99 a month and include at least 50 channels. More expensive plans that offer access to sports and movie channels are also available, and there’s no annual contract. You can try it out and leave if you find it unsuitable.

Location: Kodi Addon Repository

Third-party addons

While the addons below are popular, they do not provide content from official sources. To help support the TV networks and actors in the shows and movies you watch, we encourage our readers to use one of the licensed alternatives shown above instead.

UK Turk Playlists

UK Turks Playlists Kodi addon Best Kodi addons

UK Turk Playlists is an addon that offers a huge library of live and on-demand video. There is some free-to-watch content, but this addon primarily gathers from unofficial sources. As a result, it’s unsuitable for Kodi users looking to watch only legal video streams.

UK Turk Playlists was one of the most legally-questionable options available to users. This addon is now offline following legal actions against some third-party addon developers.

SmoothStreams.TV

SmoothStreams.tv is an invite-only, paid streaming service. It offers reliable live TV streams, but is notoriously difficult to sign up for. The SmoothStreams.tv Kodi addon requires you to login before you can watch any content, so it’s unlikely to be useful for the majority of Kodi users.

Fisherman’s Friend

Fisherman's friend

Fishing fans would find a lot of value out of this addon. Fisherman’s Friend provides streams to TV shows that focus purely on the love of fishing. While a good resource, Fisherman’s Friend pulls in streams from Openload, a known piracy streaming site. The adsdon’s developer claims the streams are freely available online through a web search, but the if the streams are coming through Openload, they’re likely not legally delivered or obtained.

SkyNet

SkyNet is a prime example of what an illegitimate addon looks like. Its media library is full of unlicensed movies and TV shows, plus it scrapes links from the same places as Sanctuary, another third-party addon. SkyNet offers nothing to Kodi users searching for licensed content and these users would be better suited to one of the official addons listed above.

Watch Episodes

Watch Episodes is a third-party addon that finds links to episodes of popular TV shows and gathers them in one place for easier access. However, there are no official sources for any of the media it contains, and as such, we advise Kodi users to look elsewhere.

Made in Canada IPTV

Made In Canada IPTV is a live TV addon. It requires users to install additional third-party addons in order to work. This increases the risk of hijacking and since this addon has a very limited pool of official streams, it doesn’t offer much to law-abiding Kodi users.

Falcon Ultra TV

Falcon Ultra TV finds links to live TV streams. These streams are mostly unlicensed, and organized alphabetically by country. However, they aren’t grouped into folders. As there are so many, the only way to find something specific quickly is to use Kodi’s search function.

Best Kodi addons for sports

There are many Kodi addons aimed at sports fans. These provide live and on-demand sporting coverage, however a VPN may be needed since this content is almost always region-locked.

Official addons

CBC Sports

best kodi addons cbc sports

If you’re a sports fan, you need CBC Sports on your Kodi, today. This addon gives you access to live events, replays, highlights and more from the CBC Sports website. What’s more, CBC Sports is completely free for anyone, even those who are outside of Canada. However, CBC Sports does implement geographic content blocks, so a VPN will be needed to access the live streams.

Location: MetalChris’ Repository

MLB.TV

As you might expect, the MLB.TV Kodi addon provides baseball coverage. You’ll need an MLB.TV subscription in order to watch full games, but the highlights and condensed recaps can be watched for free. Functionality is fairly basic, with a simple date search feature. This means that you can’t search for a specific team or player, but the MLB.TV Kodi addon is simple enough that this doesn’t really matter.

NHL TV

The NHL TV addon is almost identical to the MLB.TV addon, except it focuses on hockey. Unlike the MLB addon, however, this one has a very limited selection of free-to-watch content. A subscription costs $19.99 per month and all almost a necessity to get the most from this addon.

Sportsnet Now

Official Sportsnet Now Kodi addon best Kodi addons June 2018

Sportsnet Now is a Canadian sports service that costs $25 a month. It covers a wide range of different sports including baseball, basketball, and hockey. However, this content is region-locked and requires a Canadian IP address in order to watch. Region-hopping through a VPN works to access this service for those traveling outside of Canada. Unfortunately, there’s no free content, but there is a seven-day free trial so you can see if the service is suitable.

Location: Kodi Addon Repository

NBA League Pass

The NBA League Pass Kodi addon lets you watch live and on-demand basketball coverage. Highlights can be viewed for free, but condensed and full games require a subscription. These start at $19.99 a month and remove the commercial breaks from games. Certain games are subject to blackouts. To view these you’ll have to connect your VPN to a server in the region where the games are broadcasting.

Location: Kodi Addon Repository

NFL Game Pass

The NFL Game Pass Kodi addon lets you watch live games and on-demand content from the current NFL season. There is no free content available and a yearly pass costs $99. This may sound like a high price, but it works out to be less than $9 a month, so it’s less expensive than monthly NBA or NHL subscriptions.

Location: Kodi Addon Repository

NBC Sports Live Extra

The NBC Sports Live Extra Kodi addon provides coverage of several different sports including boxing, NASCAR, and football. You can watch highlights and replays for free but full games will require an NBC Sports subscription. This may be included in your cable TV or PS Vue package, so you don’t necessarily have to pay any more money to access it.

NHL Rewind

best kodi addons nhl rewind

Time to turn back the clock just a bit with NHL REwind. Did you miss a game or two? Need access to some condensed matches? NHL Rewind has you covered. This addon provides videos and content from a handful of sports networks and channels, including NHL.tv, ESPN, Sportsnet.ca and more. All of the content is completely free, although you may need a VPN to access some streams.

DAZN

DAZN is a subscription service that costs $20 a month. It covers a wide range of different sports but is currently only available in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Canada, and Japan. As such, you’ll need to connect your VPN to a server in one of these countries in order to watch anything

DAZN is also launching in the US on September 10, 2018. It will be a solid source for PPV events for a low cost, including many Matchbox Boxing matches.

Sportube

Sportube is an Italian sports streaming service, but its free-to-watch content can be accessed directly from Kodi with the official Sportube addon. There’s a decent library of live and on-demand media, and no registration is needed to watch.

Golden Gloves

golde gloves

Boxing history fans finally have the perfect addon in Golden Gloves. Through Golden Gloves, you can find a large amount of old boxing videos from matches going all the way back to the early 1900s. You’ll find Golden Gloves in the Zero Tolerance Repository.

SVT Play

If you have an eye for Swedish TV, SVT Play will get you live streams, straight from the source. SVT Play also carries sports, including football matches.

You can download SVT Play from the official Kodi addon repository.

RTP Play

If you speak Portuguese, you can find a lot of live content using the RTP Play Kodi addon. Built to live stream RTP content and connected directly to the live streams offered through that site, you can view a wealth of live Portuguese TV for free.

You can install RPT Play directly from the official Kodi addon repository.

SRF Play

Switzerland has multiple live streaming TV networks offered for free. SRF is just one of them, and you can catch all of its content live for free online. The SRF Play Kodi addon provides you instant access to live streams from SRF, which broadcasts Swiss TV shows, sports, and more, in German.

You can download SRF Play directly from the official Kodi addon repository.

ORF TVthek

For even more German content, you may want to try ORF TVthek. This German live streaming option provides a large library of live content and channels from German network ORF.

ORF TVthek is available from the official Kodi addon repository.

Third-party addons

The following addons provide access to unlicensed streams. Using these addons deprives the athletes and broadcasters of the revenue they need in order to continue delivering high-quality sporting content. To show your support, we recommend using one of the legitimate alternatives listed above.

SportsDevil

SportsDevil offers live and on-demand sports coverage. Some of its streams require additional peer-to-peer addons to be installed, increasing the risk to your system. Also, there’s no search functionality so finding a particular game can be difficult.

Rising Tides

Rising Tides offers access to live sporting coverage and a small selection of movies, however none of this content is not properly licensed. With no search functionality, finding anything specific is a challenge in itself.

Planet MMA

Formerly known as UFC Finest, Planet MMA contains a mixture of licensed and unlicensed MMA-related media. Since most of the legal content is freely available on YouTube, we can’t recommend this to Kodi users searching for officially sourced content.

Pro Sport

The Pro Sport addon finds live streams of NHL, NFL, NBA, and MLB games from Reddit users. These unofficial links are often taken down mid-game, however, so it’s not a particularly reliable source. Instead, we recommend using one of the official addons above.

Wrestling On Demand

Wrestling On Demand Kodi Addon

Wrestling On Demand collects content from several wrestling organizations and gathers it all in one place. While some of its media library is free to watch, the majority is unlicensed. As a result, this addon does not allow you to support the wrestlers or their organizations. We recommend using an official alternative.

Motor Replays

Most of the Motor Replays content is freely available on YouTube, however to watch any of its live streams, it requires you to install additional third-party addons. Each of these that is installed increases the risk that one will be hijacked, so we do not recommend Kodi users install or use the Motor Replays addon.

Falcon Sports

Falcon Sports is an IPTV addon. This means that it provides live TV streams, in this case for several sports channels. However, these channels are unlicensed, so we don’t recommend Kodi users install or stream with Falcon Sports.

The Loop

An addon derived from the popular (but now closed down) BOB Kodi addon, The Loop pulls in sports streams from various sources. While functional, we do not recommend The Loop. The sources are, unfortunately, not official and may break some copyrights in delivery and sourcing.

Best Kodi addons for cartoons and anime

Whether you’re into anime or are just looking for something to keep the kids occupied, there is a Kodi addon that provides most of what you’re looking for. Below, you’ll find the best, most popular Kodi addons for cartoons and anime in 2017.

Official addons

PBS Kids

PBS Kids offers on-demand access to a wide selection of high-definition children’s TV shows. It’s completely free and legal to use, and no registration is required. PBS’s content is only available from within the US, so overseas Kodi users will have to connect to an American server in order to watch.

South Park

Love it or hate it, South Park is very popular. It’s also free to watch on Comedy Central’s website and can be accessed directly with the dedicated South Park Kodi addon. You can search for a specific episode, browse each season individually, or choose to watch a random episode.

Funimation Now

Funimation is one of the best official sources of dubbed anime. It costs $7.95 a month, but there’s a 14-day free trial so you can see if it’s right for you before committing. A premium account is required to use the Funimation Now Kodi addon, but once you sign up you’ll have access to hundreds of classic and newly released anime.

Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll is a service that offers the latest anime releases hours after they air in Japan. While its website provides some videos for free, the Kodi addon can only be used by premium members. A subscription costs $6.95 a month, but this removes all ads and allows you to watch high-definition streams.

Daisuki

Daisuki offers a mixture of dubbed and subtitled anime including One Punch Man and Dragon Ball Super. This content is available for free online or with the Daisuki Kodi addon, but not for long. Daisuki is shutting down on October 31st 2017, so you’ll have to hurry if you want to watch any of its content.

Third-party addons

While there are several legitimate Kodi addons for cartoons and anime, the ones below have been found to provide access to unlicensed content. Because there are so many legal options available, we do not recommend Kodi users install or use the following addons to stream content.

Cartoons8

Cartoons8 is a Kodi addon that gathers content from four popular unofficial streaming sites. Two of these sites are cartoon focused and the other two offer a selection of anime.

9Anime

Cypher 9anime Kodi addon

This addon gathers links to content from the 9anime website. It’s fairly unorganized, with duplicate categories and a confusing list of genres to choose from. Without searching for a specific title, you’re unlikely to find it in the other sections.

Bobbys Cartoons

Bobbys Cartoons has a selection of cartoons aimed at very young children. There is no way to search for a specific show, but with just two pages of titles, it isn’t too hard to find what you’re looking for.

Best Kodi addons for general video

The following addons provide access to libraries of content that don’t fit neatly into one of the classifications above. They cover everything from vlogs to viral content to cutting-edge documentaries, so they’re great for when you can’t decide what to watch.

Official addons

YouTube

Everybody knows YouTube – it’s the largest video sharing platform on the internet. The YouTube Kodi addon maintains most of the functionality of the website and allows you to access your playlists, watch history, and channel subscriptions.

Location: Kodi Addon Repository

Reddit Viewer

The Reddit Viewer Kodi addon gathers content from a customizable list of subreddits and displays them directly within Kodi. You can also use it to quickly grab videos from the history of a particular Reddit user. You can’t upvote content, but the Reddit Viewer is a good middle ground between using Kodi and using Reddit directly.

Location: Kodi Addon Repository

TED Talks

TED Talks are speeches given by prominent speakers on a wide variety of topics. These talks are free to watch and can be accessed via the TED Talks Kodi addon. This addon contains hundreds of hours of inspirational and informative speeches catering to almost every audience.

Location: Kodi Addon Repository

Alive.HD

The Alive.HD Kodi addon takes music videos and concert footage from YouTube. You’ll likely find something you’re looking for if you want music options from YouTube.

Location: Teverz Repo

Beats.HD

Beats.HD

Similar to Alive.HD, Beats.HD focuses purely on DJ live performances. Streams come directly from YouTube, making this a good legal option for music lovers.

Location: Teverz Repo

SG Music Box

The Zero Tolerance repository is a gold mine for content, including the SG Music Box Kodi addon. Here, you’ll find a good amount of freely available music, mostly from YouTube. You’ll also find a good amount of Karaoke streams, perfect for your next party.

Location: Zero Tolerance Repo

Documentary Storm

What’s life without some quality documentaries? You can get gret documentaries if you install and load up Documentary Storm from MetalChris’s repository. This addon gives youu access to all of over 100 documentaries available online, for free. You’ll get everything from sports to war to sexuality documentaries. There’s a good chance you’ll get lost in all of the free, legally-available content here, so we recommend an extra large bag of popcorn.

Location: MetalChris’ Repository

Third-party addons

The Kodi addons below provide access to unlicensed documentaries, music, and adult content. There are many official alternatives that allow you to support the content creators and encourage the creation of similar media in the future, so we do not recommend our readers install or use the following addons.

The Red Pill

The Red Pill gathers documentaries from five streaming sites, including the wholly legal Snagfilms. However, while the unlicensed streaming sites show plenty of results, The Red Pill finds none from Snagfilms. As such, this addon is unsuitable for Kodi users looking for legitimate sources of content.

VOD on YouTube

VOD on YouTube scrapes links to YouTube content and loosely groups them by category. This addons tends to include darker content concerning hacking, serial killers, and conspiracy theories, so even though it offers cartoons, it’s not particularly family friendly.

Ultimate Whitecream

Ultimate Whitecream is a third-party addon that gathers content from several adult websites. Much of this content is not properly licensed and while it still works, the addon was recently dropped from the SMASH repo in favor of another named XXX-O-Dus.

Best miscellaneous Kodi addons

The addons below don’t contain any of their own content. Rather, they provide additional functionality to Kodi or enhance the user’s experience in some way.

Official addons

PlayOn Browser

PlayOn Browser Kodi Addon best kodi addons september 2018

PlayOn is a digital media server and digital video recording service that allows you to connect your accounts from several streaming platforms. The content from these services is then made available directly from within Kodi. Since there’s no working Netflix or Amazon Prime Video addon for the current version on Kodi, PlayOn is an invaluable addition to any Kodi user’s arsenal.

DEAL ALERT: Try Play on free here for 7 days

Plex

Plex is media center software, similar to Kodi. The Plex addon allows you to stream content from another device running Plex directly to your Kodi app running on another system. The Plex addon lets you combine the benefits of Kodi and Plex without having to choose between both.

Trakt

Trakt is an online service that keeps track of your media consumption. When you use the Trakt Kodi addon, it automatically adds movies and TV shows you’ve watched to your Trakt profile. This allows you to easily find the last episode you watched, even when using Kodi on a different device.

ZT Fitness

zt fitness

Time to get your fitness on! ZT Fitness is an excellent addon for those who need nothing but workout videos. You’ll find videos for cardio, general workouts, healthy cooking recipes, and more.

Location: Zero Tolerance Fitness

Air and Space Smithsonian

Let your inner science geek be free! The Air and Space Smithsonian addon gives you acesss to the online media provided by the Air and Space Smithsonian Magazine. Here, you’ll find everything from interviews to educational content about spaceflight and terrestrial flight technology.

Third-party addons

The following addons are popular, but are not contained in the official Kodi repository. This means that they may provide access to unlicensed content in some way, or provide functionality that has not been sanctioned by the Kodi development team. We advise our readers to use the following addons at their own risk.

Indigo

Indigo (previously known as Fusion) is an addon that allows you to install additional addons and perform maintenance, similar to the Ares Wizard. However, since TV Addons relaunched with its new legally-focused addon policy, it only contains non-infringing addons. Indigo also has a dedicated section for Kodi skins, so it’s a good choice for people looking to change the way Kodi looks without installing a build.

Click here to read our interview with TV Addons following their intense legal battle.

Location: Fusion Addon Repository

MetalliQ

MetalliQ is a Kodi addon that makes it easier to find specific titles when you have multiple addons installed. Instead of searching for a movie in each addon individually, you can search for it in MetalliQ and find out which of your addons offers it. MetalliQ can be combined with Trakt or Last.fm to keep track of your previously accessed films, TV shows, and music.

Ivue TV guide

The Ivue TV Guide Kodi addon looks through your installed Kodi addons, finds the ones that offer live TV streams, and displays a TV guide for each channel. It also tells you whether any of your addons offer a specific channel in its guide so that you always know exactly what’s available. Ivue TV Guide doesn’t provide any streams, so it has to be paired with a streaming addon to work.

Maintenance Kodi addons

With more newcomers are hopping into the Kodi scene, the need for good maintenance addons has grown. If you’re in the market for maintenance addons, there’s a long list of potential options for you as well. Note that all maintenance addons are considered third-party addons. You won’t find these tools in the official Kodi addon repository.

As such, we want to give users a fair warning: third-party addons, even those that are non-infringing, may not be as thoroughly vetted as official Kodi repository addons. We know of no current security issues with the addons listed below, but that could change in the future.

Ares Wizard

The Ares Wizard Kodi addon is essentially a Kodi manager. It allows you to install additional addons and builds, as well as run maintenance on your Kodi installation. The Ares Wizard provides one of the simplest ways to remove a Kodi build, so it’s a must-have for anyone interested in modifying Kodi’s more advanced features starting fresh with a loaded Kodi box or Fire Stick.

During the November 2017 shakeup, the developers behind Ares Wizard decided to take their tool offline completely and throw in the tool. Since that time, however, the team returned Ares Wizard to the online repository. As promised, Ares Wizard now contains no addon or build installation methods. Instead, it is now a maintenance wizard.

Location: Ares Project Repository

Smash Wizard

SMASH is a well-known Kodi community member. While Smash does not develop any addons himself, he does maintain a repository and wizard tool that houses a variety of mostly third-party addons. The SMASH Wizard is a useful tool for taking care of basic and complex Kodi maintenance issues.

However, should you use this addon, we recommend you avoid the build and addon installers. These tools primarily focus on installing copyright infringing addons. The maintenance tools within the SMASH wizard are still useful, however.

You can find this addon in the SMASH repository.

ECHO Wizard

The Echo Wizard addon comes in from the once-popular Echo Coder addon developer. Echo Coder abandoned Kodi addon development in 2017 following the most recent round of anti-piracy actions from content providers. However, his wizard is still available and still highly functional.

You can find the ECHO Wizard in a few repositories, including the Kodil repo.

Supreme Builds Wizard

Another quality maintenance wizard, we also recommend Supreme Builds Wizard for anyone looking to fix some common Kodi buffering issues. Supreme Builds Wizard has a long list of useful tools. You can perform actions anywhere from clearing or expanding cache to creating backup files for your Kodi installation. As the name suggests, this addon can be used to install builds. We recommend against using it for build installations, however, as many of those builds contain infringing addons. However, you can remove those addons and stick with the modified skin and official addons.

You can find the Supreme Builds Wizard in the Supreme Builds Wizard repository.

Dead and removed Kodi addons

Kodi addons are constantly appearing and being removed. The ones below, while popular, no longer work as intended. We advise our readers to avoid any repositories that claim to have working versions of these addons as they are potentially unsafe and could contain hijacked addons.

Exodus

Exodus is an addon that offers on-demand movies and TV shows. It’s one of the most widely used third-party addons, but is no longer being supported by the developers. As such, it’s likely to grow more vulnerable to attack as time passes. Exodus was one of the addons targeted in the TV Addons lawsuit, so it’s not even guaranteed that it’ll continue to function in the future.

Additionally, most developers supporting Exodus have ceased helping to develop this addon. A few sources still exist, but they’re not likely trustworthy.

Covenant

Covenant is a fork of the Exodus addon. It’s being maintained by the original Exodus developers and provides much of the same functionality. The majority of its content providers are unofficial, and this makes Covenant a poor choice for Kodi users who want to stream content legally.

The key developers behind Covenant shut down operations in November 2017, following a slew of lawsuit threats. Covenant still exists in a few locations, but with minimal support and many complaints about poor functionality.

1Channel

1Channel rips content from Primewire, one of the largest unofficial streaming sites. The addon is maintained by an anonymous group of developers which means that they don’t have a social media presence. Should 1Channel be hijacked, there’d be no way of knowing until your system was already compromised and for this reason, we don’t recommend using it.

123Movies

123Movies Kodi addon

123Movies is very similar to the Yes Movies Kodi addon. They both provide unrestricted access to copyrighted content, both take a long time to show the titles on offer, and both mostly link to 720p streams. There are official addons for movies that offer a better experience, so we don’t recommend 123Movies at all.

1080p Movies

As you might expect, the 1080p Movies Kodi addon finds movies, but also TV shows. Very little of its media library is properly licensed, though, with the exceptions being public domain titles like 1968’s Night of the Living Dead. With no way to search specifically for public domain content, 1080p Movies offers nothing to Kodi users who want to avoid watching unlicensed content.

None of that matters now, however, as 1080p Movies was taken down by its developer.

Duckpool

Duckpool is the new name for the iStream addon. This scrapes links from multiple streaming sites and collects them in one place for easier access. Duckpool tells its users that it doesn’t do anything illegal, but it only pulls links from unofficial sources. With no way to add official sources, Duckpool is unsuitable for most Kodi users. However, that no longer matters, as Duckpool is now offline.

Swa-DESI

The Swa-DESI addon contains an extensive library of Indian-language movies. Although these are from unofficial sources, this content may not be illegal to watch, depending on where you’re located. Regardless, we still recommend using official sources wherever possible and for that reason, we can’t recommend the Swa-DESI addon.

Bennu

This is a  revamped version of the Phoenix addon that was taken down after a lawsuit was filed back in June. Bennu has the same content library, but it’s far from a reliable source. Because of its similarities to Phoenix, there’s no guarantee it won’t be targeted in subsequent legal challenges.

As a twist of fate, Bennu went offline following the November 2017 legal actions. As with its predecessor Phoenix, Bennu’s focus on unlicensed streaming brought it too much attention by copyright holders.

Yes Movies

Yes Movies is an addon that makes no secret of its illegitimacy. It uses copyrighted images in its menus and even its icon. This addon takes a long time to even show the films on offer, and most of its content is only 720p at best.

Yes Movies is no longer available.

Supremacy

Supremacy is an all-in-one addon that offers TV shows, movies, and live TV. Unlike most other streaming addons, it includes 3D and 4K content. With no way to remove Supremacy’s unlicensed content providers, it’s very difficult to find public domain or properly licensed content.

Quantum

Quantum (formerly Supremacy) is another all-in-one Kodi addon. It has a large library of films, TV shows, and live TV streams, but there’s very little that’s officially licensed. This addon also contains other third-party addons, so it’s apparent that legitimacy is not the developer’s primary concern.

Quantum Live

Quantum Live shares little resemblance to Quantum, and quite frankl, it’s hard to understand what you’d use this addon for anyway. It appears to be sports related, but there’s little information about what you’re actually getting or where the sources are coming from. We do not recommend this addon for a variety of reasons, including a lack of legitimate streaming sources.

Bubbles

The Bubbles addon has a well-organized content library. Unfortunately, all of its media comes from unofficial sources. Bubbles can also be configured to access peer-to-peer networks, which introduces another way for an attacker to target your system. As such, it is unsuitable for the majority of Kodi users.

Streamhub

Streamhub is an all-in-one Kodi addon. It’s fairly similar to the other third-party options we’ve covered above, but Streamhub offers additional streams to paying subscribers. Given that the service isn’t official, this is a dangerous proposition: there’s no telling what the creators will do with your credit card details.

cCloud TV

cCloud TV offers live TV streams and a collection of on-demand movies. Some of these live streams are pulled from FilmOn (a legitimate streaming service) but cCloud TV also includes premium channels from unofficial sources. Kodi users looking to watch live TV would be better served by installing the FilmOn addon directly.

Picasso

Picasso is an “all-in-one” Kodi addon; it offers films, TV shows, live programming, and music. However, the vast majority of this content is unlicensed, making Picasso an unsuitable addon for anyone looking to watch officially licensed content.

The Pyramid

The Pyramid is an addon that contains movies and TV shows, as well as a selection of Kodi tutorials. The developer’s Twitter page freely advertises that the addon offers low-quality, manually recorded copies of currently airing films.

Elysium

Elysium (formerly Zen) collects links to TV shows and movies from several unofficial websites. While you can disable certain providers, none of them are legitimate sources and as a result, the Elysium Kodi addon is unsuitable for most Kodi users.

Genesis Reborn

Genesis Reborn is a fork of Genesis, the addon that was replaced by Exodus. It has a large library of movies and TV shows, but little in the way of licensed content. Since Exodus has no legitimate content providers, Kodi users would be better served by one of the official addons listed above.

Gurzil

Gurzil is a fork of the Exodus addon. It offers all of the same content that Exodus does with the only difference being a new, wolf-themed appearance. Simply, there’s no reason to install Gurzil if you already have Exodus or are only interested in watching video from official sources.

As with many other TV and movie addons, Gurzil was abandoned not long ago due to legal action.

Bob Unleashed

Bob Unleashed is another TV-focused addon. That said, it scrapes links from unofficial sources and offers little to legitimate Kodi users.

Goodfellas 2.0

Goodfellas Kodi addon

The Goodfellas 2.0 Kodi addon gathers movies, TV shows and live streams. Some of these sources are legitimate, but the majority are not. This makes it Goodfellas 2.0 a poor choice for Kodi users searching for a reliable, legal TV addon.

Specto

Specto is a fork of the Genesis addon and has a very similar content library. Like Genesis, it supports Trakt integration but has little in the way of licensed content.

Movie Dude

Movie Dude was released in July of this year but has already stopped working. It’s been removed from the Colossal repo and while it still exists in the SuperRepo repository, it contains no media.

Tinklepad

Tinklepad was an addon that collects films and TV shows from a single unofficial streaming site. While it can still be installed from the Colossal repo, it no longer contains any content.

Velocity

Velocity Kodi addon

Velocity was an addon that offered Kodi users a selection of copyrighted movies. It was one of the addons that was removed from TV Addons’ Fusion repo after their legal troubles and is no longer supported or maintained.

Flixanity

Flixanity is a legal online streaming platform. Until August, Kodi users could browse Flixanity’s content through the dedicated addon, but this addon is now empty.

Dr. Stream

The Dr. Stream Kodi addon used to contain 4K movies and TV shows, but it has since been discontinued and can no longer be installed.

The Black Hat

The Black Hat addon used to offer a large library of TV shows and movies, but it’s gone offline in recent months. We reached out to the developer behind the Maverick repo, who confirmed that The Black Hat will not be returning.

Project D

Project D was a sports-focused Kodi addon. It’s still available in the SuperRepo repository, but there’s no content to watch.

The Reaper

The Reaper Kodi addon used to offer movies and TV shows. In recent months, the Reaperaddons repository has been removed so it, and The Reaper addon are no longer available.

Icefilms

For a long time, Icefilms was a popular addon among Kodi users looking for unlicensed content. After TV Addons was hit with a lawsuit, however, they removed all of their copyright-infringing addons, including Icefilms. Icefilms can still be found in other repositories, but none of those versions work, either.

Stream All The Sources (SALTS)

SALTS Kodi addon September 2018 best kodi addons

Stream All The Sources (or SALTS) is one of the most popular third-party addons. It contains hundreds of movies and TV shows, but there is a very limited selection of official content. This makes SALTS unsuitable for Kodi users trying to avoid unlicensed sources.

Kodi Addons Officially Offline in 2018

After a silent run up in popularity for the past decade, 2017 was a significant year for Kodi’s third-party scene.

The very public take-down of TVAddons by Canadian telecoms made headlines around the world. As a result of that action, several other addons and addon developers decided to call it quits for their own safety. However, in the months following that June activity, many new addons emerged to replace the ones that went offline.

In November 2017, major copyright holders were at it again, this time a bit more fiercely and widespread. A large number of well-known addon developers received cease and desist letters from a collection of media companies such as Netflix and Sky, demanding those developers remove their infringing addons and repositories.

Given the seriousness of the threats, most developers who received such letters decided to comply. As such, popular addons like Covenant and Bennu were taken offline, while the repositories housing them were also taken down. This resulted in a lot of the most popular movie and TV show addons disappearing for newcomers, while those who already possessed them lost support for future improvements.

A number of addons have already risen to take the place of those that disappeared, however. As ever, the third-party Kodi community appears to be resilient to change. Many developers who were once extremely active on social media have wiped their presence from places like Facebook and Twitter. While some are still actively maintaining their addons and repositories, they’re doing so in a far more discrete manner.

Want to know more? Check out our longer article covering 2017’s third-party addon changes in more detail.

New Kodi Addons for 2018

As mentioned earlier, we expect a lot of big changes for 2018. While a large number of Kodi addons disappeared last year, by the end of December, many of the more popular pirate streaming addons were forked into new versions by other developers.

We anticipate much of the same going into the new year, although users should be particularly careful this year. With so many new forks, bad actors are likely to take advantage of users desperate for free streaming options. We’ve seen this happen in the past, even with popular addons like Exodus.

Additionally, be on the look-out for the newest version of Kodi. We expect it to launch anytime this year. With it will come some interesting updates to the streaming media player, but it may also cause some of your older addons to fail. As has happened in the past, newer Kodi versions may require addon developers to update their addons. If they fail to do so, your once-working addons may start throwing out errors. Kodi 18 is expected to be a major update as well, so this may occur with some addons.

We’ll keep you updated when Kodi 18 drops, as well as any notable addon impacts among the most popular Kodi addons.

    • Hi Elias, I would strongly recommend not paying your cousin any money, and I’ll explain why.

      1. You can get a brand new Fire Stick for $40 on Amazon.
      2. “When you buy your device you will get a free subscription to Kodi.” – Kodi is not a subscription service, and has always been free to use.
      3. “You will get access to 6 add-ons where you will get everything from sports, TV shows, movies and so much more. This also includes Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Movies and YouTube Red all for free.” – This is impossible.
      4. “All Access Kodi Cable” – There is no such thing.
      5. “It’s is every single thing you’ve ever wanted in your cable programming all for $20.00per month.” – You can watch a huge variety of live and on-demand TV/movies legally, and for free; just install some of the addons from the official Kodi repo.

The good news is that if you were considering subscribing, you’ve just saved $20 a month. I’d recommend reading some of our articles on official Kodi addons (like this one: https://www.comparitech.com/kodi/install-filmrise-addon) and seeing if any of those are what you’re looking for. Thanks, Ian

      • Plus, I was wondering if you could look further into it. I think this Bully Cable UFO is just a reworked name of another build called Bully 215, which might be illegal. Their website is kodibully215.webs.com.

      • The only other thing to ask is if what my cousin is doing is illegal? If it is I need someway to explain it to him cause this thing he calls “Bully Cable UFO” sounds like an illegal Kodi build, and it sounds like he could get in serious trouble legally and financially.

        • Elias, while I haven’t tried the service myself, the website looks incredibly shady. It’s hosted by a free service, too, which is a huge red flag.
Now, regarding legality: if the devices aren’t truly jailbroken (for instance, if he’s only installing officialy licensed apps), then there’s no problem. However, it is an issue if he’s selling them with apps providing unrestricted access to copyrighted content like newly-released movies. The following article concerns UK law, and there are differences in the US, however I think you can get a clearer view of the situation by reading it: https://torrentfreak.com/fully-loaded-kodi-box-sellers-receive-hefty-jail-sentences-180524/

  • Its such a shame Tinklepad has stopped working. It was my favourite addon, does anyone know of a way to obtain the addon and adjust it myself? If so, please DM me.

    • Hi Suzy, I’ve never heard of Teecup and a quick google search didn’t return any real results. Got to say, it doesn’t sound promising but feel free to remind me of this comment if Teecup becomes the next big thing. Ian

    • Hi Rocky, can you trigger the error and take a look at the debug log? This should give you an idea of what the issue is. If you’re stuck, I’d be happy to take a look for you. Ian

  • It’s a pity you don’t have a donate button! I’d definitely donate to this fantastic blog! I suppose for now i’ll settle for bookmarking and adding your RSS feed to my Google account. I look forward to fresh updates and will share this website with my Facebook group. Talk soon!

  • Lol unofficial add-ons are the main reason why people use kodi. I use placenta with real debrid and it’s amazing. For free links I have to say Neptune might be the best.

  • Hey Ian,
I have an error with my kodi. Keep getting check log, but the log gives me the same error and I cannot view it.
I reinstalled 4 times, the %APP% is cleared… don’t know what else to try… any suggestions?

    • Just noticed your on Windows.
Make sure you are running the most upto date version of Kodi 17.

Clear your Kodi data then reboot router and device at same time.

Then download this repo (one I know is 100% working)
      http://wolfpackcrew.xyz/repo/

If you still have problems it’s 99.9% a problem with your windows drivers rather than with Kodi.

      • Kodi was working fine, then that error started popping and I can’t fix it!
Kodi 18 didn’t fix either! I am so disappointed… and nothing I have been suggested helped… anyway, if you want more detail or keep trying, you have my email address. It would be best since this problem is hogging this blog! Lol

    • Without knowing if you use a build or what addons & versions, Kodi version ect it’s hard to guess.

Best I can do is advise you download the FireDL app from your app store (Play store, amazon, apk pure etc) and type in code bmc176.

As that’s a version I can guarantee is 100% working.

    • Error still. I guess I’ll wait for version 18… please delete the post with the log info. Thanks for trying.

    • Hi Adèle, have you tried deleting the userdata folder? If you let me know which operating system you’re using, I can tell you exactly where this is. Thanks, Ian

        • Hi Adèle, can you try going into the Player Settings menu and changing your render method under the Videos tab? Sometimes, this error happens because your hardware isn’t suited to the selected rendering method. Thanks, Ian

          • Okay, and changing it didn’t solve the issue? Can you try changing your audio output device under System Settings -> Audio and seeing if this fixes the problem? Could be as simple as plugging in headphones or trying different speakers. Thanks, Ian

        • There’s nothing at all in Kodi’s userdata folder after you uninstall it? Usually, certain files will remain so that if you upgrade or reinstall, all your addons would be saved.

To clarify, I’m talking about the folder that appears when you open the start menu and type “%APPDATA%\kodi\userdata” into the search box.

If there’s anything here, delete it and reinstall Kodi. If not, and your problems continue, we’ll have to come at it from a different angle. Thanks, Ian

          • Okay, can you get Kodi to show the error again, then go to

            %APPDATA%\Kodi\

and see if there’s a file called kodi.log in here. This might help us find the root cause of your issue. Ian

          • No I an mot usine a build. Version 17.6
Add-ons Placenta and Neptune, but then tried only the ones in the kodi repo but the same error pops up.

          • Are you using a custom build or anything like that? Have you installed the latest version of Kodi? Which addons do you have installed? Usually I’d suggest sending the log over but since that’s not an option, we’ll have to think about potential causes for ourselves. Thanks, Ian

          • Yes, “%APPDATA%\kodi\userdata” into the search box and even tried to show hidden files. Nothing is left.

  • I have no issues with Exodus for movies or TV content, but don’t use it on any of my computers. However, it works fine streaming content and even searching for content, so why the dier report for this addon if it still works in some markets, as with other addons as well?

    • Hi Eric, that’s a good question. There are a few reasons why we don’t recommend using Exodus.

      Firstly, it uses unofficial sources.
Second, the older software gets, the more vulnerable it becomes. The risks can be mitigated if developers release updates frequently enough, but since Exodus’ fanbase is split across several different forks, there’s a chance you won’t even know that a potentially huge vulnerability had been fixed.
Third, Exodus was among the addons named in the Bell Canada lawsuit. There are huge, international companies involved and if they want Exodus to be taken offline, it will. It’s just a matter of time.

      Thanks, Ian

  • hook the firestick to your computers HDMI, load it up with whatever and a VPN, then put it back on tv………

    • I’ve had a quick look and it seems like there’s a real lack of any official Canadian IPTV addons. Hopefully someone can create something soon to help fill this void. Thanks, Ian
