Dailymotion Kodi addon

YouTube gets all of the attention but it’s far from the only video-sharing site on the internet. If you’re looking for something new to watch, why not give Dailymotion a try? Below, we’ll explain how to install and use the Dailymotion addon for Kodi so that you can stream a whole new range of content directly from your media center.

Comparitech does not condone or encourage any violation of copyright restrictions, including illegal streaming through Kodi. Kodi can be used for many excellent, legal online streaming purposes. Please consider the law, victims, and risks of piracy before downloading or streaming copyrighted material without permission.

Always use a VPN with Kodi

Even though Dailymotion is an official addon from the Kodi repo, it’s not invulnerable to attacks. Hackers have been known to hijack addons’ GitHub repositories and force out malicious updates, which could allow them to see what you get up to online.

We recommend using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to prevent this. These services encrypt your data, shielding your activities from anyone who might be watching. This includes your Internet Service Provider, so if your speeds are being throttled when you stream, a VPN just might solve that problem.

NordVPN is our top pick for Kodi users. It delivers consistently impressive speeds and has a security toolkit that’s second to none. Better still, it works with every addon we’ve tested and even has its own Firestick app.

NordVPN is offering a fully-featured risk-free 30-day trial if you sign up at this page. You can use the VPN rated #1 for Kodi with no restrictions for a month. That's perfect for anyone hoping to try the service out before deciding whether to stay subscribed.

There are no hidden termsjust contact support within 30 days if you decide NordVPN isn't right for you and you'll get a full refund. Start your NordVPN trial here.

How to use the Dailymotion Kodi addon

Once you’ve installed the Dailymotion addon, you can right-click it to bring up a context menu. From here, users can configure the addon by clicking Settings.

There aren’t many to choose from but if you have kids, we’d suggest turning on the Family Filter, which restricts access to mature content. It’s also possible to log into your Dailymotion account, choose a download directory, or select a maximum video resolution in case your connection is particularly slow.

Streaming on Kodi: Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get into trouble for using Kodi?

Kodi doesn’t actually come with any content of its own, and all of the addons in the official repository pull from legitimate sources. This means that there’s no reason you’d get into trouble simply for using it.

Problems arise when users go out of their way to install third-party repositories, specifically ones that offer access to pirated content. The Kodi Foundation has spoken out against these in the past as they give the software and its users a bad name.

Warning: Kodi should only be used for content to which you have the legal right to access. Neither the Kodi Foundation nor Comparitech advocates the use of Kodi for piracy.

What can I watch on Kodi?

Kodi has been around for a very long time so there’s an addon for just about anything you can think of. Whether you’re looking to stream Netflix, watch the latest sports fixtures, or keep the kids busy for an hour, you have plenty of options. We also have a regularly-updated post detailing our favorite general-purpose Kodi addons.

What's the difference between Dailymotion and YouTube?

Dailymotion and YouTube are both video-sharing services but the latter is owned by Google, meaning it has essentially unlimited funds to implement features like 360 video support, automated copyright management, and a library of free-to-use audio tracks.

That’s not to say Dailymotion is pointless, though. This platform has a dedicated userbase, with thousands of hours of content uploaded every single day. What’s more, there are plenty of creators here that aren’t on YouTube, giving you an even larger pool of content to enjoy.
