MLB on Kodi

The 2021 MLB season is back! For cord-cutters who don’t have a cable subscription, MLB on Kodi is a great alternative to your local cable provider for watching live games on a wide range of devices. It’s also a great alternative to some other methods, such as MLB Reddit streams, which can be inconsistent, poor quality, and skirt copyrights. Simply put, the following options are your best bet for high-quality MLB streams without the hassle.

You can download Kodi here.

Important note: Our guide only recommends official streaming sources through Kodi. Major League Baseball has international popularity and is available for streaming online through many official channels. However, most options require payment of some kind, leading to many unofficial streaming options that bypass broadcast rights. There are plenty of great options for Kodi users to get MLB games this year, although you may need a VPN to access some free and paid streams, and to avoid speed throttling from your ISP.

If you’re outside of the countries where the MLB is broadcasting for free, or you’re in the blackout region, you may need to connect to a VPN server in the locations described below.

BEST VPN FOR KODI: The service has a large network of fast, uncongested servers. IPVanish offers strong security, privacy, and anonymity features that bypass ISP speed throttling and snooping on any device, including the Amazon Fire TV Stick. Try it risk-free with the 30-day money-back guarantee.

Warning: Kodi should only be used for content to which you have the legal right to access. Neither the Kodi Foundation nor Comparitech advocates the use of Kodi for piracy.

How to watch the 2021 MLB season on Kodi with a VPN

With the popularity of MLB games, it’s easy to understand why many fans will be looking to watch through any means necessary. Especially if you’re traveling outside of the US, you may need to use a VPN to unblock streams and maintain your HD quality video. Follow these steps to watch the MLB 2021 season through Kodi from anywhere in the world.

Here’s how to watch MLB games on Kodi:

  1. First, sign up to your chosen VPN service. We recommend IPVanish for Kodi users, although NordVPN, Surfshark and ExpressVPN are also good options.
  2. Next, install the VPN app onto your chose streaming device. Make sure there’s an app for your device before signing up.
  3. Connect your VPN app to a server in the country where MLB streams are available. Kodi users will find free streams in the US through various apps
  4. Open the Kodi addon carrying your stream and enjoy!

We recommend you do a trial run of your chosen Kodi addons during the VPN’s money-back guarantee period. This will help you verify that your streams will continue to work through the entire 2021 MLB season.

The MLB 2021 season has streaming rights available in several countries, but US streaming options are the best for those who want free access through Kodi addons. Some games will be available on free-to-air networks, while free trial options exist across a number of streaming services where Kodi addons are available.

Best official addons to watch MLB on Kodi in 2021

A number of official addons deliver high-quality MLB content on Kodi. Depending on the options you choose, you can get some games for free, or get MLB on Kodi through different paid streaming services.

Note that some or all of these add-ons will not be visible in the official repository or simply won’t work if you’re using Kodi 19 Matrix. You will likely be required to use Kodi 18 Leia or earlier.

MLB.tv Kodi addon

If you have an MLB.tv subscription, you can access your account directly on Kodi using the MLB.tv addon. You will find a version of this addon in the Official Kodi Addon Repository but can also find it in eracknophobia’s Repo.

To utilize this addon correctly, you’ll need to make sure to add in your credentials. To do that, right-click (or long press for Amazon Fire TV users) on the addon’s icon or name, and then click on Settings.

From there, you can enter your username and password. Note that there appears to be a “Single Team / Free Game Subscription” option. With an MLB.tv subscription, you can purchase a yearly pass for all games offered by MLB.tv, or for a single team.

MLB.tv also offers a “free game of the day” which is available for anyone. You can access that free game by turning on the Free Game Subscription option in Kodi.

Note that MLB.tv is only available in the US, and streams are likely to be blacked out in local markets for both home and away teams. Use a VPN to bypass these restrictions by connecting to a US, Canada, or Mexico server outside of the blackout region.

DAZN Kodi addon

DAZN is one of the most exciting sports streaming services on the market today. For $19.99 per month, you can get a load of live sports content.

DAZN US primarily offers fight sports, with an exclusive MLB show only on DAZN US. You can also use a VPN to access all of the sports content available through DAZN Canada. That includes DAZN Canada’s live streams through MLB Network. You could also try Japan, where DAZN also streams MLB games.

DAZN has pretty strict geographic content blocking in place, but we’ve found that ExpressVPN and NordVPN both work to bypass DAZN Canada’s blocks. As such, you can get access to MLB on Kodi through DAZN at an extremely low cost.

The DAZN Kodi addon is available through the Official Kodi Addon Repository.

To use this addon, you will need to enter your DAZN credentials through its settings menu.

Unofficial Kodi addons for MLB live streaming

There are a large number of unofficial Kodi addons being used by millions of Kodi users streaming MLB games. Although these addons are indeed “free,” they earn this status by using pirated streams.

You may find these addons recommend on other sites, however, we recommend that you utilize the options listed above in the official addons section instead.
