Is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood worth watching?

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is based on the manga series by Hiromu Arakawa and is produced by the Japanese anime studio Bones. Directed by Yasuhiro Irie, it’s the second in the Fullmetal Alchemist series and was first broadcast in dubbed English on Adult Swim from 2010 to 2011.

The Fullmetal Alchemist series takes place in the village of Resembool, in the country of Amestris. It tells the story of two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, who want to follow in the footsteps of their alchemist father Hohenheim. Their mother passed away and their father abandoned them, so they were raised by a friend and her grandmother.

When Edward and Alphonse start traveling the world to learn more about alchemy, they decide to try and bring their mother back from the dead using their newfound knowledge. However, when the spell goes awry, both brothers are injured. Alphonse’s body gets caught in the crossfire and Edward loses his leg trying to save him. Finally, Edward revives Alphonse’s soul, traps it in a suit of armor, and eventually becomes a Full Metal Alchemist.

The series was well-received by the anime community, got a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and ranked as second-best in the 2010 Los Angeles Times top ten anime list.
