Why is Pornhub blocked in Texas?

Pornhub is no longer accessible in Texas after the state passed a controversial age verification law in 2023. The Lone Star State claims it wants to protect children from adult content. However, Pornhub argues that the law is ineffective and puts user privacy at risk. After a Texas appeals court recently upheld the bill, Pornhub pulled out of the state in protest.

The result of this fallout is that when opening Pornhub in Texas, the site displays a message explaining the situation and its stance on it. You won’t be able to enter Pornhub and view its content. If you’re concerned about providing your personal information and revealing your online activities, you can bypass the Texas Pornhub ban with the help of a VPN.

The problem with Texas’s age verification law

We can all agree that minors shouldn’t have access to adult content. However, mandatory age-verification for adults is not the right way to prevent this.
