watch NBA Summer League on Kodi

The NBA regular season may be over but there is still plenty of basketball to take in. After all, NBA Summer League is starting soon — it’ll run from August 8 to August 17. Better still, there are a few different addons offering you the ability to watch the NBA Summer League on Kodi.

Important Note: Our guide only recommends official Kodi addons. The NBA Summer League is a popular way for basketball fans to stay occupied even after the NBA regular season has ended. However, access to game broadcasts is limited to a handful of providers which means that some fans turn to unofficial streams. These often prove unreliable and could put your privacy and security at risk, especially if you plan to watch via Kodi. Thankfully, there are several official Kodi addons you can use to watch the 2021 NBA Summer League without risk. You will have to use Kodi 18 (Leia), though, since the addons mentioned below don’t currently work on Kodi 19 Matrix.

You may need a VPN to watch the NBA 2021 summer league in the UK, Australia, Canada or anywhere else outside of the US. We’ll explain how to do this and which VPNs are best for Kodi below.

Warning: Kodi should only be used for content to which you have the legal right to access. Neither the Kodi Foundation nor Comparitech advocates the use of Kodi for piracy.

How to watch 2021 NBA Summer League on Kodi with a VPN

There are several Kodi addons available that can provide viewing access for the Summer League, but a VPN may be required in some locations to bypass geographic content restrictions for access to legally available streams.

To get started using your VPN, do the following:

  1. Create an account with a trusted VPN provider. We recommend IPVanish for Kodi. You can also consider NordVPN, Surfshark, or ExpressVPN.
  2. Install your VPN provider’s app on the same device as your Kodi app. Although it’s possible to install VPN software directly on your router, this can prove to be a difficult process. Instead, we recommend that you make the installation on the same device you use Kodi on, like your Amazon Fire TV.
  3. Connect to a US VPN server. You’ll need to connect to a US VPN server in the country where your streams are available to access a Summer League stream through any of the ESPN or NBA channels.
  4. Install and stream from a Kodi addon offering ESPN channels or NBA TV and the 2021 NBA Summer League.

Kodi addons aren’t 100% perfect. There is no guarantee that you will be able to use a particular Kodi addon from abroad, or through a VPN. You should test out your VPN with the Kodi addons you will be using to watch the Summer League to ensure that everything is working before watching your games. This will give you time to make any necessary adjustments or contact support if needed.
