It’s here! Super Bowl LIV (54) will live stream on February 2, 2020, starting at 6:30 PM EST/11:30 PM GMT. The San Francisco 49ers will meet the Kansas City Chiefs at the 2020 Super Bowl for the first time history, making this a nail-biting game viewers won’t want to miss. Fans worldwide can watch this game live online from anywhere, including abroad in various countries.
Please note that we will only be recommending official sources. As always occurs with popular sporting events like the Super Bowl, many sites will attempt to rip official streams from official broadcasters and deliver those streams online. However, illegitimate and unlicensed Super Bowl streams are typically offered on sites that carry potentially malicious advertisements and are often very laggy with poor video streaming quality. Super Bowl LIV (54) will be available from official sources for free and in HD, meaning there’s no need to turn to unlicensed and poor-quality video streaming options.
The Super Bowl 2020 game will only be available through region-locked streaming sources. To watch the game for free in most countries or while traveling abroad outside the US, you’ll likely need a VPN connection to access your home services.
How to watch the Super Bowl LIV free online with a VPN
If you’re in the US, UK, or Australia, you’ll be able to easily stream Super Bowl LIV (54) online. However, you may find it necessary to use a VPN to access if you’re traveling abroad to unlock your desired services. A VPN will unblock free and paid streaming options in different countries. To use a VPN for Super Bowl LIV live streaming, follow the steps below:
Here’s how to live stream the Super Bowl LIV (2020) online with a VPN:
- Start by signing up for a virtual private network VPN service. We recommend ExpressVPN, but NordVPN and CyberGhost are both trustworthy, low-cost alternatives.
- Download the application onto the device you plan to stream Super Bowl LIV (54).
- Connect to a VPN server in either the US, UK or Australia, depending on which streaming source you’re using.
- Connect to the streaming option you plan to use while connected to your VPN server.
Super Bowl LIV (54) will be a live broadcast, although on-demand streams will likely be available for replay later. If you plan to watch live, however, and need easy and free access, a VPN is going to be your best option if you’re in a location where free streams are unavailable. We recommend testing your VPN prior to the 6:30 PM EST start time to ensure you have an effective connection and content blocking bypass.
How to watch Super Bowl LIV on US TV
The rotating broadcast agreements mean FOX has the streaming rights this year for the 2020 Super Bowl. FOX makes streaming a bit more difficult than CBS did last year, but you’re not without options if you want to watch live online.
US fans with an over-the-air antenna can watch the FOX broadcast for free and in HD. However, many fans likely won’t or can’t just go buy and install an OTA antenna for watching the Super Bowl.
Here are some online streaming alternatives for Super Bowl LIV:
Locast – Free option
If you live in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver, Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York, or Boston, or areas surrounding these cities, you can stream Locast directly from Locast.org, or through the Locast app.
Streaming through Locast is free, although you may get irritated by the number of content breaks requesting a donation to the service. However, a small donation will put a stop to that, and you can then enjoy watching Super Now 54 on Locast without any interruptions (except for commercials from the channels, of course).
If you’re abroad, you cannot use a VPN to access Locast. This service currently blocks all VPNs.
Live TV streaming services
There are a handful of live TV streaming services that you can sign up to with a 7-day free trial. The following services carry local FOX affiliates in many regions across the US:
- fuboTV – Any package
- Sling TV – Sling Blue
- YouTube TV – Offers a package
- Hulu with Live TV – Offers a single package
- Vidgo – Core package
- AT&T TV Now – Any package
If you’re abroad, you may be able to use these services with a VPN. A US payment method will be required. We recommend ExpressVPN, which offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. You’ll be able to get a full refund after the game.
Not interested in these services, or need other free alternatives? US fans may be able to use a VPN to bypass region blocking on options in the UK and Australia.
How to watch Super Bowl 54 on Australia TV
Fans in Australia can watch for free using either 7Mate or Channel 7, depending on location. However, Australia residents (and anyone outside of Australia, for that matter) can stream the game live online using the 7Plus.
That said, our favorite way to connect to free-to-air Australian networks is through Freeview. This service has a much cleaner interface and excellent quality.
If you plan to connect to Freeview from outside of Australia, a VPN connection to an Australia-based server is required. We recommend ExpressVPN.
How to watch Super Bowl 54 in the UK
NFL fans in the UK will be able to watch Super Bowl LIV live through the BBC. The BBC has an on-going tradition of broadcasting the ultimate NFL competition for free through BBC One. UK-based sports fans, or anyone trying to connect to a UK stream, can also use the BBC iPlayer through the BBC website, or access the BBC live stream using the TVPlayer.com website.
Important Note: UK law requires a TV License to watch BBC content, either through the BBC iPlayer or other means, including third-party carriers like TV Player. The BBC iPlayer site will require you to either sign in or click to acknowledge that you have a TV License. TV Player does not ask about your TV License status, although a TV License is still implicitly required. Neither site requires verification of a TV License purchase, however. VPNs work with both sites for live streaming.
How to watch Super Bowl 54 in Canada
If you’re in Canada when the Super Bowl airs, your best option is a VPN and one of the services listed above.
Watching through DAZN Canada will be the only free option for Canada NFL fans, however, thanks to the free 30-day free trial.
A Canadian IP address is required to watch the Super Bowl through DAZN Canada from abroad. If you have access to DAZN in another country, you may be able to use a VPN to connect to the Canadian version of the service. DAZN allows users from other countries to carry their accounts to different countries, although DAZN employs rather significant VPN blocking to prevent region hopping from abroad.
Note that DAZN does block many VPNs. ExpressVPN unblocked DAZN when we connected to Canadian servers in our testing.
How to watch Super Bowl 54 in Germany
German NFL fans can create a free DAZN account that lasts for 30 days before any payment is due, and then cancel the account after the game ends. Normally, DAZN Germany costs 9.99 Euros/month.
However, the easiest method for German fans and anyone else is to use the free-to-air options from ProSieben or ran.de.
Both ran.de and ProSieben will employ geographic content blocking, but both options can be bypassed using a VPN connected to a Germany-based server.
How to watch the Super Bowl on Firestick devices
Your Firestick is going to be one of the best devices to use for the Big Game. You can easily watch Super Bowl 54 on your Amazon Fire TV or Fire TV Stick thanks to the available apps and the Silk browser.
If you’re opting for DAZN Canada, you’ll find a DAZN app readily available as well.
Super Bowl 54 Predictions
With the New England Patriots locked out of this year’s Super Bowl, betting odds are a bit more mixed on the outcome than in the past few years. That said, the San Francisco 49ers are a slight favorite to win, for a few years.
For starters, the 49ers are making 7th appearance to the Super Bowl in the team’s franchise history. The 49ers last took the field at Super Bowl XLVII (47) in 2013. They walked away with a victory during that game, as well. As it stands, the 49ers also have a higher win percentage than any other team with 3 or more franchise appearances. Which is to say, they’ve won 5 out of 6 games in which they’ve appeared.
As the 49ers last made it to the Super Bowl 7 years ago, many of the team members are still the same. Those Super Bowl alums have been through the rigors and pressure of the Bowl and walked away victorious.
The Kansas City Chiefs are not going into the match without a fighting chance, however. Their 13-3 record for the year is the same as what the 49ers are bringing to the table. And while the Chiefs have only had 2 prior Super Bowl appearances, and have not been to the Big Game since 1970, the current team has proven effective at beating the odds.
This could be anyone’s game, so make sure you don’t put too hope or money into your betting pools.
