Family Guys season 19 is set to begin on September 27 in the US. New episodes will air weekly at 6:30 PM PST/ 9:30 PM EST, although occasionally, there’s a two-week gap between episodes. Previous seasons have each had around 20 episodes, so we can expect the new series to run until early next year. Below, we’ll let you know where you can watch season 19 of Family Guy online, either live or on-demand.
Note: we’ll only be recommending official sources in this post. Family Guy is an extremely popular show, which means unlicensed streams are all but guaranteed. However, these are usually only available in low resolutions, and can be taken down at any moment for copyright violation. As you can watch Family Guy for free online anyway, there’s no reason to use unofficial streams.
How to stream Family Guy abroad with a VPN
Don’t worry: using a VPN to bypass regional restrictions is easy once you know how. Just follow the steps below to unblock and stream Family Guy from anywhere in the world.
Here’s how to watch Family Guy season 19 online with a VPN:
- First, sign up for a suitable VPN service. We mentioned ExpressVPN above, but NordVPN and Surfshark are two similar, inexpensive alternatives.
- Next, install the VPN software. Most providers offer apps for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android, so make sure to download the correct version.
- Choose which of the official sources below you’d like to use.
- Connect to one of your VPN’s servers in the relevant location. For instance, you’d use a US server to unblock FOX, or a British one to stream from the ITV Hub.
- Try loading a video from your chosen source. It should load very quickly, but if not, try refreshing the page or restarting your browser.
If you’d like to watch Family Guy live, we strongly recommend performing the steps above before it actually airs. This way, if anything doesn’t go to plan, you’ll have enough time to contact your VPN’s customer support team for advice.
Where to watch Family Guy season 19 online
Family Guy has a huge international following, and as such, is regularly broadcast in numerous countries across the world. Below, we’ll explain where you can watch season 19 wherever you live.
American fans can watch season 19 of Family Guy on FOX. The most recent episodes are available on-demand, and while you’ll have to sign in with your cable provider details to watch the latest one, the others can be watched for free, without registration, as long as you’re in the US or connected to a US server.
You can also stream Family Guy live here if your cable subscription includes FOX. You will have to create a FOX Now account first but this is free and only takes a minute. Don’t have cable TV? No problem — first-time users can stream for up to an hour free of charge and there are several over-the-top services that will allow you to watch live afterwards (AT&T TV Now, fuboTV, Hulu, Sling TV, YouTube TV).
Hulu is the least expensive option; your first month is free, and costs $25 per month thereafter. Additionally, this service allows users to watch every previous episode of Family Guy on-demand.
All of the above services are region-locked, so you’ll need a VPN to use them outside of the US. ExpressVPN comes with a risk-free 30-day money-back guarantee; simply try it and if you’re not impressed, you can cancel for a full refund.
There’s no official word as yet but If this release is anything like previous years, season 19 will air about a month later in the UK. Here’s the good news: past seasons of Family Guy all aired on ITV, meaning you can watch them for free via the ITV Hub. You’ll also have the choice between watching them live every Monday night at 9PM or streaming them on-demand the following day.
You will have to create an account before you can start streaming, though. This doesn’t cost anything, however, and only requires you to verify your email address. You will be asked to enter a UK postcode during registration but this isn’t used to check your location. Also, UK law requires you to have a TV License to watch live, but you can stream Family Guy on-demand without one. There are no verification measures in place to ensure you actually have one, however, so this is easy to accidentally overlook.
The ITV Hub uses geo-locking to prevent users from outside the UK from watching anything. If you’re currently traveling abroad, you can access it by connecting to a British VPN server.
In Canada, you can watch the most recent season on CityTV. However, to do so, you’ll have to sign in with your cable provider details. Unfortunately, there’s no way to watch CityTV without cable.
If you’d like to watch previous seasons, it gets a little trickier. Netflix Canada currently has seasons 9-18, however, there is no major streaming service which offers seasons 1-8. These can still be bought individually from iTunes or the Microsoft Store.
This service geo-restricts its content, though, so you’ll have to use a VPN to watch from outside of Canada. Remember: if you usually live elsewhere, you can access your usual streaming platforms from abroad by connecting to a VPN.
New Zealand actually calls this season 20 of Family Guy thanks to a misunderstanding regarding season four’s compilation DVDs. New episodes air every Tuesday from September 29 onward at 8:30PM. Best of all, you can watch the latest season for free, live or on-demand, on TVNZ. You will have to register first, but this only requires you to verify your email. That said, TVNZ does region-lock its content, so you’ll need a VPN to watch from outside of New Zealand.
Stan currently offers 16 previous seasons of Family Guy. This service costs $10 AUD per month. However, like TVNZ, it’s geo-blocked, so you’ll need a VPN to use it abroad.
Can I stream Family Guy online with a free VPN?
Although free VPNs can be a tempting prospect, we strongly advise against using them. As these services regularly have more users than their servers can support, you’re almost guaranteed to experience painfully slow browsing speeds, stuttering video (which usually means you’ll miss sections of live broadcasts entirely), and long buffering times. With free VPNs blocked by most major streaming services, you may not be able to watch anything at all.
Free services usually come with a catch and VPNs are no exception. The truth is that they make money from you, usually, by placing ads onto the sites you visit. However, some go even further and store tracking cookies on your device. These allow the company to log valuable details about your browsing habits, which can then be sold to third parties later, usually without your knowledge. By deciding who your data is shared with for you, free VPNs essentially act as a middle man and remove the user’s control over their own personal information.
Not every so-called free VPN has your best interests at heart. In fact, one study revealed that of 283 surveyed free VPNs, almost 40% actively tried to infect the user’s system with malware. Worse, more than 18% allowed users to browse without encryption, even though they thought they were protected. Even major free VPNs come with risks, as we found in 2015 when one was caught facilitating a botnet with its users’ idle bandwidth.
You can’t be too careful with your personal information. To stay safe online, we recommend using a quality VPN that doesn’t log anything which could identify you, and which has a proven record of standing up for its customers’ privacy.
What can I expect from season 19?
Family Guy is a show that has found a recipe for success and stuck to it religiously throughout the years. As such, long-term fans will be happy to know that they can expect more of the same: absurdist, surrealist storylines interspersed with musical numbers and a healthy dose of the series’ trademark shock humor.
