If you value online privacy, take note: Bangladesh has been cracking down on internet freedoms since 2015, starting with bans on major social platforms. The situation hasn’t improved, making a reliable VPN for Bangladesh with a strict no-logs policy essential for anyone heading to the country.
VPNs encrypt your internet traffic and reroute it through a server of your choice, safeguarding your online activities and unlocking geo-restricted content. So, whether you’re looking to secure your data or access your home streaming library while abroad, a solid VPN is your go-to solution.
In this guide, we’ll break down the best VPNs for Bangladesh, focusing on security, speed, and streaming capabilities. If you’re pressed for time, here’s a quick summary of the top providers.

Criteria for the best Bangladesh VPNs
The best VPNs for Bangladesh performed well across our five key areas of testing:
- Speed: To find out how quick each provider was, we carried out multiple speed tests while connected to their US servers.
- Versatility: We scored providers on how many Asian countries — including Bangladesh — they supported. We also took into account the overall size of their networks and their ability to access geo-restricted services.
- Security and privacy: We looked for VPNs that use best-in-class encryption techniques as well as scoring highly against our 16 other security and privacy test metrics.
- Ease of use: VPNs needn’t be difficult to use. We found the most beginner-friendly services by evaluating providers against 10 different ease-of-use metrics.
- Value for money: We looked for VPNs that were worth what they charge and that come with a money-back guarantee. Ideally, they performed well against all eight of our test metrics.
For those interested in the specifics of our testing process, we go into more detail in the methodology section later in the article. For now, let’s focus on the VPN providers that stood out.

NordVPN is our top recommendation for a VPN in Bangladesh. It has been in the business for over a decade, earning itself a stellar reputation along the way.
This provider offers more than 7,300 servers in 118 countries. This includes Bangladesh, where it has servers in the country’s capital, Dhaka. It’s one of the few VPNs that can provide a Bangladesh IP address.

NordVPN outperformed competitors in our speed tests, so you can be sure of a fast connection. While connected to the provider’s US servers, we recorded an overall average speed of 199.82 Mbps. This was 62.75 Mbps faster than the combined average speed of the other tested VPNs.
Security and privacy are NordVPN’s major strengths. It has a policy of not storing any user data and is considered to be a ‘logless VPN’. It’s based in Panama and therefore doesn’t have to comply with any mandatory data retention laws. Furthermore, it allows users to firm up their connection by selecting a ‘double VPN’ option.

NordVPN uses 256-bit encryption, the OpenVPN protocol, an internet kill switch, and DNS leak protection. These are industry-leading standards. The provider displays quick, consistent speeds and works with sites like US Netflix.
Apps are available for Android, iOS, Linux, Windows, and macOS. A basic plan allows for six devices to connect concurrently.
Buy this VPN if:
- You need servers specifically in Dhaka, Bangladesh’s capital city

IPVanish is headquartered in the United States, but its strong privacy policies will keep you secure and hidden on the internet. The company adheres to a ‘no-logs’ policy, which means that there’s no storage of personally identifiable information in the first place.
It’s one of the few VPN providers that chooses to operate its entire network of servers independently, rather than renting or outsourcing to a third party. This gives it complete control over the traffic flowing through servers, which should augment security. It certainly helps connection speeds. In our tests, IPVanish averaged an impressive 176.64 Mbps, which is fast enough for streaming Bangladesh TV in 4K on up to seven devices simultaneously.
IPVanish operates around 2,400 servers spread across 140 locations worldwide. This includes Bangladesh and lots of nearby countries in Asia.

The service is popular with Kodi users because it enables them to download the Android APK directly to their device. The interface is remote control-friendly for Kodi devices that lack a keyboard and mouse. IPVanish works with various streaming services, including BBC iPlayer, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video.

Military-grade encryption protocols are the standard. Specifically, IPVanish secures all connections with 256-bit encryption, perfect forward secrecy, DNS leak protection, and an internet kill switch.
This provider allows users to connect all of their devices simultaneously. Apps are available for Android, iOS, Windows, and MacOS, and there’s a 24/7 live chat for customer support.
Buy this VPN if:
- You need a provider that owns and operates its entire server network
- You’re a Kodi user (remote control-friendly interface and direct Android APK)
- You want unlimited simultaneous connections
- You need strong performance in Asia with numerous regional servers
Don’t buy this VPN if:
- You frequently travel to China (IPVanish doesn’t work reliably there)
- You want a non-US-based provider
NO CONNECTION LIMIT:IPVanish is great for families as it allows unlimited connections. Easy to use with Kodi and preferred by users who need high standards of privacy. 30-day money-back guarantee.

This service works reliably with several streaming services, including Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+. It also has a smart DNS service for accessing geo-restricted content using VPN-incompatible devices.

Speeds are consistently quick. In our tests, the slowest and fastest results only differed by 4.36 Mbps. The overall average of 144.57 Mbps means the provider is easily fast enough for gaming, streaming, and torrenting.

ProtonVPN has roughly two dozen servers in Bangladesh and more than 12,000 across a total of 117 countries. Furthermore, it allows users to choose between individual servers rather than making the choice for them.

Thanks to its Stealth protocol and strong unblocking ability, it’s an excellent choice for anyone traveling in countries with strict surveillance, although it doesn’t work in China.
Speeds are consistently fast. In our tests, the provider averaged 134.54 Mbps. This makes it suitable for high definition streaming, as well as gaming and torrenting.
Users are free to torrent, secure 10 devices at the same time, and chat directly with support staff if anything goes wrong. There are also Secure Core servers specifically designed to provide a higher level of privacy (though it’s worth noting these are quite a bit slower than the general purpose servers).

There are all kinds of advanced security features too. ProtonVPN supports split tunneling and port forwarding, plus it blocks trackers and ads automatically. It uses uncrackable encryption (256-AES on OpenVPN and ChaCha20 on WireGuard), prevents data leaks, and offers a kill switch on most platforms.
Most importantly, ProtonVPN follows a strict no-logging policy and has been audited to prove it. Anyone looking for a higher level of anonymity can pay in cash or Bitcoin.
ProtonVPN offers apps for Android, iOS, MacOS, Windows, and Linux. Additionally, it can be manually configured to work with most home routers.
Buy this VPN if:
- You want to select individual servers, not just locations (two dozen in Bangladesh)
- You want Secure Core servers specifically designed for higher privacy
- You need higher anonymity payment options (cash or Bitcoin)
Don’t buy this VPN if:
- You need a VPN that works consistently in China
- You require extensive streaming capabilities
STRONG SECURITY:ProtonVPN offers a first-class security package, impressive performance, and a stellar customer support team. It won’t be stopped by most forms of digital censorship, and if you upgrade to a paid plan, you’ll get a 30-day money-back guarantee.

PureVPN offers access to thousands of servers in 65 countries, including Bangladesh. For streaming, it provides a list of servers linked to specific platforms, such as Netflix or BBC iPlayer. These worked great when tested.

PureVPN has a reputation for being extremely quick, though it seems to have slowed a little in recent times. Nevertheless, its average speed of 118.70 Mbps is still very good and more than able to support interruption-free streaming and VoIP calls.
Interestingly, this VPN also automatically obfuscates your traffic as needed, so you can find unbiased information and communicate safely in places with strict online surveillance like Bangladesh. Support staff are available, day or night, over live chat and can help resolve any issues you might encounter.
This service is ideal for anyone new to VPNs. That’s because it has uncrackable encryption enabled straight out of the box, as well as DNS and IPV6 leak protection and a kill switch that makes sure you can’t accidentally access sensitive content without the VPN active.

PureVPN has undergone four audits, meaning we know it’s telling the truth when it says it keeps no logs. There is a tracker-blocking feature too, but this is only accessible with a Plus or Max subscription.
PureVPN has its own Windows, Linux, MacOS, Android, and iOS apps. Its website provides manual setup instructions for a wide range of routers so you can beat the 10-device limit.
Buy this VPN if:
- You need automatic traffic obfuscation in high-surveillance environments like Bangladesh
- You need reliable performance in extremely censored regions
- You want 24/7 live chat support
Don’t buy this VPN if:
- You require anonymous payment options (no cryptocurrency support)
- You need advanced customization options
STAY SAFE ABROAD:PureVPN has everything you’ll need to browse the web freely in Bangladesh. It’s fast, secure, and has a true no-logs policy, plus it works with just about every region-locked service we tested. All plans include a 30-day money-back guarantee.

PrivateVPN was initially engineered specifically for torrenting, so it performs well from both a security and privacy standpoint. It’s a great option for streaming, and is able to access the most stubborn of platforms, including Netflix, BBC iPlayer, and Amazon Prime Video.

Its server network isn’t as large as some of the other VPNs on this list, but with servers in 63 countries, you’ll still find enough options to secure your internet connection. Note, however, that PrivateVPN doesn’t have servers in Bangladesh.
Speeds are fast enough for streaming in UHD on two devices simultaneously, though it must be said that PrivateVPN was slower than the other providers in this list when tested. Overall, it averaged 55.95 Mbps.
If you need a speed boost, PrivateVPN allows users to drop the level of encryption from 256-bit to 128-bit. The shorter key length reduces computation time and improves connection speeds.
All packages include perfect forward secrecy, an internet kill switch, and DNS leak protection. A basic plan allows for ten devices to connect at the same time.
An initial 30-day money-back guarantee is on offer at the time of writing. PrivateVPN offers apps for Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android.
Buy this VPN if:
- You’re primarily focused on torrenting (designed specifically for P2P file sharing)
- You want the option to drop the encryption level from 256-bit to 128-bit for speed boosts
Don’t buy this VPN if:
- You need servers specifically in Bangladesh (no local presence)
- You want a large server network
GREAT SPEEDS:PrivateVPN is a good family choice. Works well from Bangladesh and allows up to 10 devices on the same account. Could do with having more servers to choose from. 30-day money-back guarantee.

Methodology: Choosing the best VPNs for Bangladesh
It’s difficult enough to find a VPN that can be trusted to keep you safe online, and users in Bangladesh also need their chosen service to be capable of bypassing strict online censorship. Needless to say, not just any provider will do. We considered which aspects of a VPN are most important for this kind of task, and decide to test providers in the following five key areas:
Speed
With so many VPNs claiming to be the fastest, the only real way of reaching some sort of objective decision is by testing them. With this in mind, we subjected each provider three speed tests while connected to their US servers: one in the morning, one at noon and one in the afternoon.
We used the desktop version of the Ookla speed-testing app for measurements, and rate-limited our base connection speed to 250 Mbps. If your connection speed is much slower, you can still use the chart below for comparison, as it scores providers on their speeds relative to one another.
NordVPN was the fastest provider overall, with Surfshark a very close second. Both VPNs can support multiple users carrying our bandwidth-intensive activities. Although all VPNs slow your connection a little, these two have the least impact — which is great news when every Mbps counts.
Network suitability
We started by scoring each provider on the number of server locations it had in Asia. We then scored them on the number of servers they had overall. Finally, we scored their ability to access geo-restricted services. This meant testing them with hard-to-access platforms such as Netflix and BBC iPlayer.
These scores were weighted and summed to generate an overall score out of 10 for each VPN.
NordVPN’s score of 9.3 was highest. It has servers in Bangladesh and 117 other countries, and works with every streaming platform you can think of. IPVanish and Surfshark are strong alternatives.
Security and privacy
According to Freedom House’s 2024 report on the state of the country’s internet, multiple people have been kidnapped or killed as a result of their online activities. As such, security and privacy is our #1 concern.
We checked whether providers logged any data that could identify you, and confirmed that they used 256-bit encryption, and had DNS and IPv6 leak protection, and a kill switch. We also looked for those offering more advanced features. You can see the full range of test criteria in the table below.
Feature | NordVPN | Surfshark | IPVanish | ExpressVPN | CyberGhost | Proton VPN | PureVPN | PrivateVPN |

Additional security features | Yes | Yes | No | No | No | Yes | No | No |
Each of these criteria was given a score based on its relative importance. These scores were combined to generate an overall score out of 10 for each VPN. This makes a quick comparison easier.
NordVPN and Surfshark each scored 9.5, putting them at the top of the rankings for security and privacy. Both offer effective obfuscation, robust encryption, RAM-only servers, and fully audited no-logs policies.
Ease of use
Privacy isn’t something that should be available only to tech experts. To make our list, a service has to be easy enough for a complete beginner to use. Additionally, features that reduce the barrier to entry further, such as multi-platform apps, 24/7 support, or a lack of a connection limit, are always welcome. Use the table below to see how providers compared against our individual test metrics.

As before, each metric was given a score, which we used to generate an overall score out of 10 for each VPN.
With a score of 9.6, NordVPN was the easiest to use provider overall. It combines well-designed apps, with strong customer support and a straightforward onboarding and offboarding process. If you’re new to VPN software, IPVanish and ExpressVPN are also good options.
Value for money
We’ll never recommend a service that isn’t priced competitively. If a VPN charges more than rivals with similar functionality (without a great reason), it simply won’t make our list. Again, each test metric was given a score, which we used to generate an overall score out of 10.
Surfshark’s score of 9.7 was the highest overall, and it’s not hard to see why. The provider allows unlimited device connections as well as low-cost subscription prices. IPVanish scored second-highest and also has no connection limit. However, it’s plans are marginally more expensive than Surfshark’s.
Should I use a free VPN in Bangladesh?
Free VPNs exist in abundance and you will likely come across a few during your VPN search. However, use such providers at your own peril.
To evade social media restrictions and other clampdowns on the web in Bangladesh, you need a VPN service that uses foolproof encryption and location-evading tech. Free VPNs aren’t at the same level as the recommended services on this list; they use poor encryption protocols, have a choice of maybe one or two servers, and will enforce data caps. Yes, they seem tempting because there’s no upfront payment involved, but that’s just a ruse to make money off you in the long run.
There are many examples of free services that have unethically mined user data to sell for a profit, or leveraged idle bandwidth to build a botnet army. At the very least you can expect a lot of invasive advertisements. We don’t recommend that you go down this path. Keep yourself safe and secure on the web by using a paid service; a couple of dollars will go a long way to ensuring peace of mind.

How free and open is the Bangladeshi internet?
The first signs of trouble in Bangladesh emerged after the passage of the 2006 Information and Communication Technology (ICT) act. Applied for the first time in 2013, it was used by the government to arrest four bloggers who had voiced concerns over the rising tide of religious extremism and other social issues. Penalties under the law were increased the same year, ranging from incarceration of a minimum of 7 years up to a maximum of 14. The same amendment also allowed police to make arrests without seeking prior warrants.
In 2015, there was even more violence. A number of fatal attacks by extremists targeting online bloggers, along with the arrest of prominent journalist Probir Shikdar, led to an ‘environment of fear’ as described by advocacy body Freedom House. This forced netizens in Bangladesh into an environment of self-censorship.
A further crackdown on the internet was witnessed between 2016 and 2017. A total of 35 news websites were blocked by the government on a baseless charge of being biased towards the opposition party. 300 people were also arrested under the same ICT laws as mentioned earlier, with some remaining in state custody for several weeks.
In 2024, Freedom House stated that internet freedom in Bangladesh “continued to decline” ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Online gambling is technically illegal in the strictly Muslim country but laws are rarely enforced. However, the government has shown to be intolerant towards online activity in the past and it could very well use prevailing laws to further impinge on internet freedoms. You can use a VPN to stay safe.

How to securely access Netflix in Bangladesh
Netflix is technically available all over the world, but the library of content varies greatly between each country. This is because of copyright laws and restrictions. If you log in to Netflix from Bangladesh, you’ll be directed to the local library regardless of whether the account was registered in another country. For people traveling in Bangladesh, the only way around this restriction is to use a VPN first. For example, if you want to regain access to US Netflix, connect to a US VPN server.
Netflix has been at war with VPNs for some time now. As such, not all VPNs work with the streaming media behemoth. If you encounter any problems, it’s best to speak with customer support for each individual VPN. In most cases, they’ll be able to direct you to a server that works.
VPNs for Bangladesh FAQ
How can I avoid internet censorship in Bangladesh?
The Bangladeshi government implemented the Digital Security Act in 2018. Like laws used to suppress dissent in other countries, it’s ambiguously worded, which makes it flexible enough to arrest just about anyone for extremely minor infractions. This law also allows the government to block certain types of content, which it has done judiciously in the years following.
It’s fairly easy to bypass online blocking with the help of the right VPN. Not just any will work, though, as some countries and services use deep packet inspection to identify the signs of VPN traffic. Instead, you’ll need a service with obfuscation or some kind of stealth mode, since these will make your data resemble regular, everyday web traffic. Remember: it’s best to consult local laws before attempting to use a VPN in a foreign country.
How can I watch live cricket with a VPN?
If you’re traveling abroad and can’t access your usual sports streaming services, don’t panic! Most of the time, these services have checked your IP address and realized you’re outside of their broadcast areas. To fix this, simply connect to a VPN server in your home country — this will hide your true location and make it seem like you never left.
Before you try again, make sure to clear your cookies and cache! This forces websites and apps to forget any old location data and solves the most common problems you’d otherwise run into. When you’re ready, try accessing your preferred service again. This time, you should be able to stream as much cricket as you like!
Is it legal to use a VPN in Bangladesh?
Yes. VPNs are not restricted in Bangladesh and it is completely legal to have a VPN subscription and to use a VPN on your devices. That said, the government of Bangladesh has been known to block and censor certain online services at times, including Facebook.
When the government blocks online services, it usually does so under the guise of national security. As a result, you could technically be in breach of the law if you use a VPN to access those purposefully censored services.
Thus, it is what you choose to do with a VPN rather than using a VPN that could be in breach of the law. What is certain is that using a VPN to engage in any criminal activities is still against the law, and you could be prosecuted.
With this in mind, we recommend that you always understand local laws before using a VPN by doing your own research. Nothing in this article constitutes legal advice.
Are VPNs legal in Bangladesh?
VPNs themselves aren’t illegal in Bangladesh, but how you use them could land you in hot water. The government isn’t a fan of you bypassing their restrictions, so if you’re caught doing something they don’t like, you could face penalties. That’s why it’s crucial to choose a VPN with a strict no-logs policy to maintain your online privacy. Always stay informed and use your VPN responsibly.
