- The internet is heavily censored in Pakistan and people frequently receive harsh sentences for online activities like “spreading misleading content”.
- VPNs can help you get an IP address from Pakistan without actually having servers there, meaning you can use sites like Naya TV from anywhere.
- I’ve personally tested more than 50 leading VPNs to see which are best for getting a Pakistani IP address.
- NordVPN is my top recommendation for getting an IP address from Pakistan. It’s privacy-conscious, fast, and excellent for streaming, plus it works anywhere.
Pakistan’s government might not be actively trying to ban VPN usage anymore, but the country is still classified as “Not free” by Freedom House thanks to its vendetta against digital freedom of speech and arbitrary blocking of social media. Thankfully, you don’t have to put up with this: Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) make it easy to keep your online activities private, hidden from government and ISP alike.
That’s not the only advantage of using a VPN, though. These services also route your traffic through a server in another location, helping you access your usual services abroad. I’ve identified some of the only providers with virtual servers pointing to Pakistan so that you can continue streaming Naya TV, PTV, and AJK from anywhere in the world.
This article will talk you through how to get a Pakistani IP address step-by-step, plus the best VPN providers for the job, since not many of them have servers in Pakistan. I’ll go into more detail about each of my top picks a little later, but in case you’re short on time, here’s a quick summary.
The best VPNs to get an IP address from Pakistan:
- NordVPN My top choice for getting a Pakistani IP address. Fast, reliable, and secure, with exceptional streaming ability and a zero-logs policy. Includes a risk-free 30-day money-back guarantee on all plans.TIP In our testing we found that the cheapest NordVPN plan (Standard) works perfectly for Pakistan IP.
- Surfshark The best budget VPN for streaming Pakistan TV. Boasts a wide range of security features, first-class streaming ability, and a total lack of connection limits, plus 24/7 customer support.
- Total VPN Speedy VPN with reliable servers in Pakistan. Suitable for any day to day task including streaming, beating censorship, or making video calls.
- ProtonVPN Veteran provider with some of the quickest Pakistani VPN servers I’ve seen. Ideal for streaming, torrenting, and staying safe on public wifi.
- ExpressVPN Beginner-friendly service with powerful security features, 24/7 support, and the ability to unblock Pakistani TV abroad. A great choice for bypassing digital censorship.
- IPVanish A no-logs provider with the ability to protect every device you own. Offers virtual Pakistani servers, a no-logs policy, and extremely high speeds.
- CyberGhost This speedy service has a large network and strong security, plus it can access virtually any major streaming platform. Also offers 24/7 live chat.
- Hotspot Shield A quick and effective way to get a Pakistani IP address. Strong on security and great at unblocking stubborn streaming sites.
How to get a Pakistan IP address
VPNs aren’t complicated to use. Simply follow these step-by-step instructions to browse the internet safely with a Pakistan IP address.
How to get a Pakistan IP address from anywhere with a VPN:
- First, pick a service that meets your requirements (I recommend NordVPN).
- Once your payment has been authenticated, download the native software for your device either directly from the provider or an official app store. Don’t use third-party sites under any circumstances.
- Connect to a server in Pakistan. This will hide your IP address and give you access to services that aren’t normally available anywhere else.
- Try to access a Pakistan-only service like Naya TV. You should be able to watch as normal, regardless of your location.
- Still having problems? In that case, I’d recommend clear your browser cache and cookies and trying again. Failing that, try a different server or contact your VPN support team for one on one assistance.

My criteria for finding the best Pakistan IP VPNs
Customers aren’t exactly short of options when it comes to VPN providers. To make sure I only recommended the very best, most versatile, most secure services around, I evaluated providers on their performance in five key areas. My list of the best VPNs to get a Pakistan IP address hinges on the following standards:
- Speed: Nobody wants a VPN that’s too slow for everyday usage. I personally performed multiple speed tests for each provider to make sure they’re actually capable of delivering the high speeds that you’ll need.
- Functionality: I first looked into the size and scale of each VPN’s network, then examined its streaming abilities, connection limit, and split tunneling functionality to ensure you get the most versatile provider around.
- Security and privacy: Pakistan’s internet is heavily censored, which is why I’ll never recommend a VPN that can’t keep you safe. As a baseline, I expect AES-256 encryption, a kill switch, leak protection, and a no-logs policy.
- Ease of use: Your VPN should be able to handle any day to day task, while making everyday usage as seamless as possible. That’s why I scored them on their connection limits, versatility, and customer support, among other things.
- Value for money: Finally, I tried to make sure you get a service worth paying for. Providers must offer a money-back guarantee and if there are any ways to drive the price even lower, I’ll be sure to let you know.
You can read more about how I tested and ranked the VPNs I recommend in the methodology section below. For now, let’s take a look at the ones that made the cut.

NordVPN is the best VPN for getting an IP address from Pakistan. It operates more than 8,000 servers spread across 120 countries and works in places with extreme censorship thanks to its censorship-busting obfuscated servers and the newer, faster NordWhisper protocol. Best of all, this VPN works with stubborn streaming platforms like Disney+, PTV, and Prime Video. NordVPN allows up to 10 simultaneous connections and provides 24/7 support via live chat.
NordVPN has a reputation for speed, built up by years and years of exceptional performance. I decided to find out how fast its virtual Pakistani servers were by testing these three times over the course of a typical day. With an average speed of 190.66 Mbps, NordVPN was actually the fastest service in this list. Needless to say, it’s capable of handling anything you throw at it from streaming to torrenting.
There are plenty of powerful security tools built-in too. For instance, NordVPN uses unbreakable encryption and protection against DNS and IPv6 leaks, as well as a kill switch that can close certain apps when your connection drops. It blocks ads and trackers automatically, supports split tunneling, and even offers servers designed to encrypt your traffic twice. Most importantly, NordVPN has been audited multiple times, proving that it doesn’t log any personally identifiable information.
NordVPN has its own apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. Further, it can be manually configured to work with virtually any router.
Buy this VPN if:
- You want the fastest connection speeds for streaming Pakistani content.
- You’d like a VPN capable of keeping you safe anywhere in the world.
- You’re looking to access a wide range of geo-restricted content like Netflix, Disney+, PTV, and Prime Video.

Surfshark is the best budget VPN for getting a Pakistan IP address. Its network covers 100 countries, and there’s no limit to how many devices you can connect. Not only that, but this service works with many of the most stubborn streaming apps, so you’ll never be short of something to watch. I’m a big fan of the 24/7 live chat-based support too — after all, if something goes wrong (especially when you’re somewhere like Pakistan), you’ll want it resolved as quickly as possible.
My next task was to make sure that Surfshark is actually quick enough for everyday usage. This meant speed testing its Pakistani servers in the morning, at noon, and in the afternoon, to account for fluctuation at busier periods. Surfshark delivered an average speed of 187.68 Mbps, with less than 6 Mbps of difference between its highest and lowest results. As such, you’ll be able to stream, chat, or torrent just fine.
One of the best things about Surfshark is that it provides premium-level security at a very reasonable price point. For instance, this VPN comes with uncrackable encryption, a kill switch, DNS and IPv6 leak protection, and a combined ad and tracker-blocking tool. Surfshark follows a no-logging policy, as evidenced by the results of its numerous independent audits, so you don’t have to worry about having your activities exposed. Finally, there’s a NoBorders mode specially designed to help you browse the web safely in places with extreme digital censorship.
Surfshark apps are available for iOS, Android, Windows, Linux, and macOS. Alternatively, it can be manually configured on most home routers.
Buy this VPN if:
- You need a budget-friendly VPN that still offers powerful security and privacy features.
- You’re looking for a VPN that allows unlimited simultaneous connections.
- You need to bypass censorship effectively – NoBorders mode ensures access even in restrictive countries like Pakistan.
- You want a VPN that’s easy to use, making it perfect for both beginners and advanced users.
Don’t buy this VPN if:
- You don’t want to be prompted to upgrade or pay for add-ons to access further features.
BUDGET CHOICE:Surfshark is the best budget option for getting a Pakistani IP address. Strong privacy tools and a total lack of connection limits make it great for sharing with family. This no-logs VPN is easy to use and includes a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Total VPN is a reputable provider that operates servers in over 80 countries, Pakistan included. It’s a solid option for anyone hoping to watch iQIYI, KTN, or Urdu 1, as well as international services like Netflix. Users can connect up to five devices at the same time and stream as much as they like since there aren’t any bandwidth limits. Customer support is available, day or night, via live chat though there is also a ticket system for dealing with more complex issues.
If you’d like to perform data-intensive tasks like torrenting, watching live TV, or playing online games, you’ll need a VPN that’s fast enough to keep up. I measured the performance of Total VPN’s Pakistani servers at three times of day, resulting in an average speed of 182.5 mbps with around 6 Mbps of variability. Suffice to say, that’s enough for virtually any task, even if others are using your connection at the same time. Here are my full test results:
Total VPN is an easy to use service that makes staying safe as straightforward as possible. By default, it shields your activities using uncrackable 256-bit AES encryption, a kill switch, and protection against DNS and IPv6 leaks. This provider doesn’t log any data that could identify you and has its own custom protocol named Hydra that’s capable of beating the world’s strictest online limitations. Finally, there’s split tunneling support in case you’d like to let some sites pass through the VPN unencrypted.
Total VPN apps are available for Windows, Android, iOS, and macOS. Unfortunately, this VPN doesn’t support Linux devices or routers at the time of writing.
Buy this VPN if:
- You’re looking for a low-cost service with exceptional speeds
- You’d like to access some of the most popular streaming apps abroad
- You want a service that can keep you safe with minimal setup needed
- You’d prefer a VPN that comes with its own antivirus software
Don’t buy this VPN if:
- You want a VPN with a high connection limit and lots of customizable tools

ProtonVPN is an industry veteran with over 15,000 servers in 120 countries around the world including Pakistan. This service is perhaps best known for its free plan but if you upgrade, you’ll be able to secure up to 10 devices at once, speak directly with customer support staff via live chat, and access virtually any major streaming platform. I can personally confirm that ProtonVPN works with Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Disney+, and many more geo-restricted websites.
Does ProtonVPN have what it takes to help you stream Pakistani TV in the highest possible quality? I performed three speed tests on its servers in Pakistan to find out, resulting in an average speed of 146.6 Mbps. That’s not the fastest result I’ve seen but it’s still highly competitive and well above what’s required for 4K streaming. In fact, you could watch TV while torrenting and video calling and still not notice any performance issues. Here are the full results of ProtonVPN’s speed tests:
ProtonVPN was created by the team behind ProtonMail, an email client known for its strong focus on privacy. It’s only natural then, that ProtonVPN uses unbreakable encryption, a kill switch, and leak protection to secure your activities from snoopers. There’s a strict no-logging policy in place and you don’t have to take the company’s word for it since ProtonVPN has been professionally audited three times. Advanced features include a stealth protocol, split tunneling support, automatic ad and tracker-blocking, and multi-hop servers that encrypt your data twice.
ProtonVPN offers apps for iOS, macOS, Android, Windows, and Linux. Alternatively, if you want to connect more than 10 devices, you can manually install it on routers.
Buy this VPN if:
- You want robust security features, including port forwarding, multi-hop connections, Secure Core servers, and Stealth Protocol.
- You need a VPN with high-speed, consistent servers for streaming and torrenting in Pakistan.
- Privacy is your top priority
- You want reliable, consistent access to major streaming platforms.
Don’t buy this VPN if:
- You are on a tight budget – more expensive than other options on this list.

ExpressVPN makes getting an IP address from Pakistan as simple as possible. This provider has servers in 105 countries and automatically obfuscates your traffic if it realizes you’re in a country with restrictive censorship like Pakistan, China, or the UAE. I’ve had great success using this VPN to access platforms like Amazon Prime Video and BBC iPlayer, and never encountered a problem that the 24/7 support team couldn’t help me solve. You’re permitted between 10 and 14 simultaneous connections, depending on which subscription plan you choose.
To find out how quick ExpressVPN’s Pakistan servers were, I tested their performance at various times of day using a 250 Mbps connection. ExpressVPN achieved an average speed of 150.74 Mbps, meaning it’s well-suited to bandwidth-intensive activities like streaming, downloading large files, and making video calls. Let’s see how well this VPN did in the morning, at noon, and in the evening:
Security is another area where this service stands out. By default, it keeps you safe using 256-bit encryption, DNS and IPv6 leak protection, and a kill switch, but there’s also a newly added Threat Protection tool that blocks ads, trackers, and sketchy sites automatically. ExpressVPN’s apps, infrastructure, and no-logs policy have all been externally audited, meaning you don’t have to worry about anyone finding out what you get up to online.
For privacy-conscious users, there’s the option of paying via Bitcoin. ExpressVPN offers apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. This service recently swapped to a tiered pricing system, allowing it to increase its connection limits while reducing its monthly cost.
Buy this VPN if:
- You want a user-friendly VPN with an intuitive interface and automatic obfuscation, ideal for beginners.
- You need a VPN that works reliably in highly censored countries, including Pakistan, China, and the UAE.

IPVanish has roughly 3,200 self-owned servers in 100 different countries and because these are all run on RAM, they’re completely wiped whenever they’re turned off, meaning your data is safe. This VPN has no problems with stubborn streaming platforms like Netflix, Disney+, or Max, and even works with Pakistani services such as PTV. Customer support is available via a 24-hour live chat system and there’s no limit on how many devices you can connect.
To get a better understanding of IPVanish’s performance, I had to try it for myself. I set up three speed tests at different times of day and kept a close eye on not just IPVanish’s raw speeds but also its consistency. This VPN delivered an average speed of 154.1 Mbps, with around 8 Mbps between its best and worst results. In simple terms, it’s fast enough for any task, even live stream Pakistani TV.
This provider follows a strict no-logs policy and uses 256-bit AES encryption, which is currently considered uncrackable. It also protects against DNS and IPv6 leaks, stops ads and trackers automatically, and offers a kill switch so that you don’t inadvertently browse unprotected after a connection outage. IPVanish is constantly improving, though, and just recently added support for multi-hop connections as well as a link safety checking tool.
IPVanish apps are available for iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS. If you’d prefer, you can follow manual setup instructions to get it running on Linux systems or most routers. The new Advanced Subscription tier throws in cloud storage and a privacy-focused browser as well as the VPN itself.

- You’d appreciate a provider that offers 24/7 support via live chat and is user-friendly for beginners.

Don’t buy this VPN if:
- You’re concerned about privacy and want a VPN located outside of the US.
- You’re looking for a VPN that accepts anonymous payment options.

CyberGhost has a large network, allowing users to choose from more than 100 different countries, including Pakistan. The server list is broken up by category, so if you have a specific task in mind, you can quickly find a suitable server. For instance, there are some designed for torrenting, streaming Netflix abroad, and gaming. Customer support is available around the clock, and in my experience, staff are friendly, quick to reply, and extremely helpful.
To make sure that CyberGhost can handle whatever you throw at it, I thoroughly examined the performance of its servers in Pakistan over the course of a typical day. Once all tests were complete, CyberGhost had an average speed of 143.99 Mbps, fluctuating by around 9 Mbps. That’s a solid result, so whether you’re hoping to make video calls, stay up to date on your favorite shows, or play games, ths VPN can help.
CyberGhost pays close attention to your security. By default, it uses uncrackable AES-256 encryption (or ChaCha20 on the WireGuard protocol), as well as a kill switch, and DNS and IPv6 leak protection. Its more advanced features include an ad and tracker-blocker, the option to adjust packet sizes and send data via a random port, and a smart rules system that lets the VPN connect on its own when certain conditions are met. Editor's Note: Hotspot Shield is owned by Point Wild, Comparitech's parent company.
Hotspot Shield is another reputable provider that’s well worth trying out. It has roughly 1,800 servers spread throughout 80+ countries including Pakistan. Some locations, such as the US and UK, even have servers optimized for gaming and streaming. On that note, this VPN works with Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, and many more platforms. Users can connect a maximum of 10 devices at once and if you ever run into issues, there’s 24/7 assistance via live chat.
My next job was to push Hotspot Shield’s Pakistani servers to their limits. I set up speed tests in the morning, at lunchtime, and in the afternoon, using a 250 Mbps base connection. This VPN wasn’t as quick as some of those above but still did quite well, averaging 121.27 Mbps. In real terms, this means that even if your whole family is using the internet, you shouldn’t notice any lag or buffering. Here are the results:
Hotspot Shield does a great job of keeping your online activities secure. To begin with, it uses 256-bit AES encryption, which would currently take hundreds of years to crack. This VPN also boasts a kill switch to keep you safe following unexpected disconnections, DNS and IPv6 leak protection to ensure your traffic is always properly hidden, and split tunneling support. Crucially, Hotspot Shield follows a strict no-logs policy. It also offers an obfuscated protocol called Hydra that’ll let you browse safely in heavily-censored countries like Pakistan and China.
Hotspot SHield has its own apps for Windows, macOS, Android, Linux, and iOS. Hotspot Shield can also be configured manually to work with a wide range of router firmware.
Buy this VPN if:
- You need fast and reliable servers for streaming and gaming on Pakistani servers.
- You want a VPN with strong security features, including 256-bit AES encryption and protection against DNS and IPv6 leaks.
- You’re looking for a service with strong streaming potential
- You value a simple interface and a minimalistic design that focuses on the essential information for your connection.
Don’t buy this VPN if:
- You need anonymous payment options.
- You need advanced customization options or more granular control over your VPN connection.
FAST AND VERSATILE:Hotspot Shield is a speedy VPN capable of handling just about any task. With reliable Pakistan servers, great unblocking ability, and powerful security features, it’s a real workhorse. A 30-day money-back guarantee is included.

Using a free VPN to obtain an IP address from Pakistan
I understand why users might be tempted to opt for a free VPN. There’s no upfront cash payment involved, and it can take just a couple of clicks to get set up. But there’s no such thing as a free lunch. While it’s certainly possible to sign up for a free VPN service, you’ll struggle to find one that also offers servers in Pakistan. Plus, the service offered by free VPNs tends to be disappointing.
Some free VPN providers have been caught mining user data and selling it to third-party advertisers. At the end of the day, they are registered businesses and have to make money to pay for servers and other overheads. To monetize traffic, one provider has even taken things a step further and utilized idle bandwidth to build botnet armies.
What’s more, many free VPN apps come bundled with malware, which can lead to extortion and data loss. If your aim is to stream content or securely access banking services, then you’re not going to achieve that by using a free VPN.
For the sake of security and your enjoyment, it’s in your best interests to avoid free VPNs. If you need a VPN for a short period of time, then follow the recommendation I made at the beginning of this article and take advantage of NordVPN’s 30-day money-back guarantee.
The legality of using a VPN in Pakistan
Pakistan requires VPN providers to be licensed in order to operate in the country. Services that don’t agree are (at least theoretically) blocked, though so far, most major providers have reported only intermittent issues.
It’s legal to use a VPN to get a Pakistan IP address. If you’re doing so from Pakistan, it’s important to know that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority requires citizens to register for VPN use. However, if you’re using a VPN to gain a Pakistani IP from almost any other country, you can do so without added complications. Of course, it’s important to check the specific country’s laws and the legality of VPNs in that country beforehand to avoid any potential legal issues.
Disclaimer: Although Comparitech has spent hours researching this topic, nothing above should be taken as legal advice. Comparitech encourages you to consult local laws or perhaps even seek a professional’s opinion before attempting to use a VPN if you’re not completely sure that doing so is legal in your country.
The banning of VPNs in Pakistan
In early 2022, the Pakistani government announced a ban on all VPNs. However, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) later required businesses and individuals to register their VPNs by October 31, 2022, or face a potential ban.
The PTA has tried to monitor and regulate VPN usage since 2011. However, rights activists and internet users have criticized the mandatory registration of VPNs, as it comes amid an increasingly unsafe environment for media, activists, and journalists in Pakistan. In addition, the PTA’s move to register VPNs has raised concerns about privacy and censorship.
However, installing one of the recommended VPNs before traveling to Pakistan will allow you to use a VPN without problems.
How to get a Pakistan IP address: FAQs
Can I use a VPN to watch Pakistani television online?
Are you traveling away from home and want to stay up-to-date with your favorite shows? Connecting to a VPN with a Pakistani server will automatically give you a local IP address. This means online television streams such as those from PTV, PTV Sports, Hum TV, ARY, Geo, and more will automatically be made available to you.
It’s possible that some channels may require you to sign up and obtain a username and password (this may also require entering a local address) before you’re allowed to stream live content. In this case, it’s best to check with individual sites for clarity.
As long as you sign in with an IP address from Pakistan, you’ll be able to watch your Pakistani Netflix library while traveling out of the country.
What sites are blocked in Pakistan?
Internet freedoms in Pakistan have experienced a fair degree of variation, but there are no current restrictions on social media apps or VoIP services, although there have been blockades in the past. Some news and media sites, particularly those originating from India, are blocked. Torrents sit in a legal grey area with no real clarity on whether they’re allowed or not. For all intents and purposes, it’s best to use a VPN to navigate the web safely.
What else can I do with an IP address from Pakistan?
Another common use for VPNs is for the sake of security when accessing online banking. An IP address from Pakistan means it’ll be easier to check your online bank account from HBL, UBL, Standard Chartered Bank, Allied Bank, and more. It will appear to the bank that you’re logging in from a location inside Pakistan and won’t raise any compliance red flags that might have arisen from a non-Pakistan location.
VPNs make it a hassle-free experience to access public wifi at airports, hotels, malls, cafes, etc., where hackers can lie in wait and try to steal your data. With a VPN, the connection is virtually unhackable.
How can I test if my IP address has changed to Pakistan?
Testing your VPN to ensure you have a Pakistan IP address is straightforward. Before connecting to a Pakistan VPN server, head to Comparitech’s IP address checker, and make a note of the address that’s onscreen.
Next, connect to a Pakistan VPN server using your chosen VPN provider and head back to the IP address checking tool. You should now see an IP address pointing to Pakistan, which confirms that the VPN is working properly.
