The seventh season of Chicago Med will premiere at 8 PM ET/PT on September 22. The network hasn’t revealed how many episodes there’ll be just yet but we do know that there’ll only be one each week. On the plus side, it sounds like this will be a particularly juicy season, with almost every major character experiencing some kind of radical change in their circumstances. Interested? Below, we’ll explain how to watch Chicago Med online, even if you’re abroad.
Remember, we don’t recommend using unofficial sources. These tend to have very low video quality and are frequently taken offline for violating copyright. In contrast, official streams guarantee you the best-possible experience and with plenty of ways to watch (some of which offer a free trial), there’s simply no need to go anywhere else.
Chicago Med season 7 will only be shown on geo-restricted streaming services. This means that if you’re traveling abroad, you’ll need the help of a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to regain access to your usual streaming platforms.
How to stream Chicago Med online from anywhere
VPNs encrypt a user’s internet traffic and hide their true location, which helps keep their activities private while preserving their anonymity. However, these services can also be used to unblock region-locked services while on vacation.
Here’s how to watch Chicago Med abroad:
- The first step is deciding which VPN to use. We recommend NordVPN but Surfshark and ExpressVPN are two great alternatives that work well with most streaming services.
- Install the VPN app onto whichever device you plan to stream with. Most major providers allow five or so connections at once, so it’s fine if you watch TV on multiple devices.
- Log into your VPN and connect to a server in your home country. This will change your IP address and allow you to access the same services you’d use back home.
- Try to play a video on your preferred streaming service. If you’re still seeing errors, we’d recommend clearing your cookies and trying again. Failing this, you might want to try a different server or get in touch with your VPN’s customer support team.
New episodes of Chicago Med will be broadcast live, which is why it’s so important to make sure your VPN works properly ahead of time. After all, you wouldn’t want to miss the start of the premiere because of a last-minute technical issue. All of the VPNs above have 24/7 support over live chat, so getting help is quick and easy.

How to watch Chicago Med online on US TV
As always, Chicago Med will be shown on NBC. If this channel is included in your cable TV package, you’ll be able to log into the website and live stream season seven at no added cost. Don’t worry: it’s also possible to watch Chicago Med online without cable, provided you have a Sling TV, YouTube TV, fuboTV, or Hulu with Live TV account. Most of these services offer a free trial but afterward, you’ll have to pay around $64.99 USD per month to continue watching live.
There is another option, though. If you’re happy to wait until the day after broadcast, you’ll find new episodes available for free on Peacock. The good news doesn’t end there; Peacock actually has every older season, and in fact, every episode of Chicago PD, Chicago Med, and Chicago Fire, none of which require a premium account to watch.
The only issue is that you’ll have to be in the US to access these services. Of course, if you’re traveling, you could just use a VPN to get a US IP address. NordVPN has a risk-free 30-day money-back guarantee, so feel free to try it for yourself. You can always claim a refund if it fails to live up to your expectations.
Where else can I stream Chicago Med online?
Although the seventh season of Chicago Med is only coming to North America for the time being, it’s fairly easy to stream older seasons in other English-speaking countries. Here’s a brief rundown of which networks are showing Chicago Med where you are:
Season 7 of Chicago Med will be coming to CityTV at the same time as it airs in the US (8PM ET/PT every Wednesday, starting September 22). This service has a free online live stream and you don’t even have to create an account to access it. However, if you’d like to watch episodes on-demand, you’ll have to sign in with your cable provider details.
This is particularly troublesome for those without cable since CityTV is the only way to watch season 5 without buying it outright. Even if you have cable, though, you still have to purchase season 6 on platforms like iTunes or the Google Play Store as it’s simply unavailable for streaming anywhere. Seasons 1–4 are on Netflix Canada too, which costs $9.99 CAD per month.
CityTV is only available in Canada. Those traveling abroad can use this service as normal by connecting to a VPN.
At the moment, we don’t know when season 7 will arrive in the UK. There are a few different ways to watch older episodes of Chicago Med, though.
To begin with, the first four seasons are on both Netflix UK and Amazon Prime Video. While Prime Video also technically has the fifth and sixth, you’ll have to pay for these (£14.99 and £18.99, respectively). Instead, you’d be better off signing up for an Entertainment pass on Now TV; this costs £9.99 per month, includes a seven-day free trial, and lets you stream both of the latest seasons.
Due to regional restrictions, the platforms above might not let you stream Chicago Med in countries outside of the UK. A VPN can help you securely access all of your usual platforms while traveling.
Australian fans are really getting the short end of the stick here, and are still waiting for season 6 to arrive. If it’s any consolation, you can stream the first five seasons for free on 9Now — you just have to create an account first. Alternatively, it’s possible to watch seasons 1–4 on Netflix and Binge but given these aren’t free, there’s little reason to unless you’re already signed up.
Remember: you’ll need a VPN to regain access to your usual streaming platforms while traveling outside of Australia.
What can we expect from Chicago Med season 7?
In short, this season will see everything change for the main cast. Ethan’s situation has changed drastically as a result of the season six finale, and he now has to spend time in recovery. Meanwhile, Sharon is forced to reckon with the reality of running a hospital, which means balancing money with providing the best possible care for patients. We’ve also heard about a couple of new characters: Stevie Hammer (played by Kristin Hager of Condor fame), a doctor with a “surprising past”, and Dylan Scott (Guy Lockard, The Village), an ex-cop turned doctor.
