More about the show

Darling in the Franxx is part dystopian sci-fi and part romance, set in a grim future where children are enlisted to save civilization. It was first announced at Anime Expo in 2017 and was released the following year.

Darling in the Franxx focuses on the story of Hiro and his half-human partner Zero Two as they make their way through a post-apocalyptic world where children are treated as less than human and humanity has to face evil creatures called klaxosaurs.

The show was a runner-up in 2018 for the Newtype Anime Awards in the Best TV Anime category. Both main characters, Hiro and Zero Two, were nominated in additional categories for Best Male and Female Characters respectively. Despite its grim subject matter, it’s a gripping story with some poignant coming-of-age elements.
