What is the current state of internet freedom in India?

According to the Freedom on the Net 2024 report from Freedom House, India’s internet is only “partly free”. One of the primary reasons for this is numerous internet shutdowns. Over the last five years, India is the country that has imposed the highest number of internet shutdowns. Authorities claim this is to maintain law and order, as well as prevent the spread of information.
