New episodes of The Alienist will air every Sunday night at 9 PM EST / 6 PM PST. This series will be slightly shorter than last time, with eight episodes instead of ten. Additionally, two will air back-to-back each week, so fans won’t have to wait too much longer to find the answers to all of their questions. Of course, this show is only available in the US, but don’t worry: we’re about to explain how to watch The Alienist: Angel of Darkness if you’re currently traveling abroad.
We strongly recommend watching Angel of Darkness via official sources. Although you may be able to find unauthorized streams, it’s best to bear in mind that these are inherently unreliable and can be taken down at any moment. Further, they usually offer far lower-quality video. There are plenty of ways to stream this show legitimately and no need to use third-party sources.
The Alienist season 2 will only air on geo-restricted streaming services. If you’re abroad and want to watch on the same platforms you would back home, you’ll need a Virtual Private Network (VPN).
How to stream The Alienist abroad using a VPN
The good news is that it’s really quite simple to access region-locked streaming services with a VPN. Just follow the steps below to watch The Alienist online.
Here’s how to watch The Alienist online from anywhere:
- Start by picking a suitable VPN. We recommend ExpressVPN although NordVPN and Surfshark are both excellent, low-cost alternatives.
- Now, download and install the app on whichever devices you use the most. You’ll usually be allowed five or so connections at once, but this varies slightly between providers.
- Log in to the app and connect to an American server. This will change your IP address and trick geo-restricted services into thinking you’re in the US.
- Visit the TNT website and log in with one of its supported services (more on this later).
- Lastly, try watching a video. In most cases, it should load as normal but if you have any problems, try clearing your cookies and refreshing the page.
The Alienist: Angel of Darkness will be broadcast live, so we strongly recommend spending a few minutes ahead of time making sure that your VPN works with TNT. This way, you’ll have plenty of time to get help with any issues and won’t have to miss two episodes of the show.

How to stream The Alienist: Angel of Darkness on US TV
The new season of The Alienist will be shown exclusively on TNT. If you already receive this channel as part of your cable TV package, you can log in to the TNT website and watch online at no added cost. Don’t worry, though: there are also plenty of ways to watch The Alienist: Angel of Darkness without cable.
Sling TV, YouTube TV, and Hulu all allow you to stream TNT live online. Better still, each of these services comes with a free trial. This means that if you don’t mind waiting a few weeks, it’s possible to sign up, stream the whole second season, and cancel to avoid being charged. If you’d rather watch new episodes immediately, we recommend using Sling TV; it costs $30 USD per month, making it the least expensive option.
The services above are all region-locked and only available in the US. If you’re currently abroad, you can unblock them as normal with a VPN. Don’t have one yet? ExpressVPN includes a risk-free 30-day money-back guarantee which means you can try it and simply claim a refund if it fails to impress.
Where else can I live stream Angel of Darkness online?
The first season of The Alienist was added to the British, Canadian, and Australian Netflix libraries about a month after the final episode aired on TNT. As such, it seems likely that Angel of Darkness will follow suit, especially as Netflix has continued airing other TNT exclusives like Snowpiercer outside of the US.
What can we expect from The Alienist season 2?
The official plot summary indicates that Sara will take center stage this time around. She’s now the head of her own detective agency and leading an investigation into a kidnapped child. Of course, Laszlo and John have their hands full too, attempting to defend the child’s mother and reporting on the case for the New York Times, respectively.
One of the show’s stars, Daniel Brühl, has said that Angel of Darkness will address issues that are “incredibly current.” He points out that in 1896, New York was experiencing an immigration crisis, widespread police corruption, and a growing disparity between the rich and poor. If nothing else, it should be interesting to see these issues mirrored across the ages.
Who are the cast of The Alienist: Angel of Darkness?
The main cast is all returning for season 2, and perhaps unsurprisingly given that it takes place a year in the future, there’ll be plenty of new faces too. Here’s a quick rundown:
- Dakota Fanning as Sara Howard
- Daniel Brühl as Dr. Laszlo Kreizler
- Luke Evans as John Schuyler Moore
- Brian Geraghty as Theodore Roosevelt
- Ted Levine as Thomas Byrnes
- Douglas Smith as Marcus Isaacson
