How to set up a Smart DNS with an LG Smart TV (WebOS)

If manually configuring a VPN with a wifi router sounds a little too technical, know that some VPNs (such as NordVPN and Surfshark) offer Smart DNS features. As you’ll see below, this is relatively quick and easy to set up in comparison.

Here’s how to set up a Smart DNS with WebOS:

1. Sign up for a VPN that offers a Smart DNS feature. I recommend NordVPN.
2. Log into your VPN’s website and activate the Smart DNS option (it’ll usually be linked to directly from the control panel).
3. Turn on your LG Smart TV and open the settings menu.
4. Navigate through Network > Network Connection.
5. Choose which connection you’re using (Wifi or Wired).
6. Go to Advanced Wi-Fi Settings and select Edit.
7. Uncheck Set Automatically and enter the DNS IP address from your VPN service.
