accessing cw seed with a vpn

CW Seed offers several shows that are hard to find elsewhere, but due to licensing restrictions, these can only be accessed by viewers within North America. To watch CW Seed from the UK, Australia, Europe, or anywhere else, your best bet is to connect to a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

VPNs work by encrypting your network traffic and passing it through one of their remote servers. When you connect to a server in a different country, it appears that you’re actually located in that country. For example, by connecting to an American server, you can unblock most US-only streaming services like HBO, NBC, and the US Netflix library.

Every VPN is different, however, and not all of them are suitable for streaming HD video. Additionally, some are faster than others, include more security features, and have better multi-platform support. To find the best VPN for CW Seed, we looked for services with the following characteristics:

  1. Numerous US servers
  2. Fast speeds and consistent connections
  3. Capable of unblocking CW Seed as well as similar US streaming services
  4. Uses strong encryption
  5. Minimal logging, or preferably, no logging at all

Disclaimer: Comparitech does not encourage or condone using a VPN to stream content illegally. We advise researching your country’s laws and the terms of use for specific streaming platforms before using a VPN to access their content.

Can I use a free VPN to watch CW Seed?

Free VPN services can be appealing but there are several significant reasons why we recommend avoiding them. First and foremost, they usually provide an inferior experience. With more users than most premium services, and fewer servers to spread the load, you can expect slow speeds, random disconnections, and in some cases, queues or monthly data limits.

It’s also worth thinking about how a free VPN can afford to operate. Servers are expensive, after all. As these providers don’t charge the user upfront, they have to find other methods of making money. Some free VPNs inject ads into the sites you visit, while others use tracking cookies to keep tabs on you after you’ve disconnected. The resulting user profile can then be sold on to third parties without your knowledge.

Unfortunately, we’ve seen free VPNs abuse their users’ trust before. Last year, a study showed that of 38% of surveyed free Android VPNs included some form of malware. Worse, 20% didn’t actually encrypt traffic at all. There have also been high-profile cases where these services have lied about the logs they keep, and in one case, even sold their users’ bandwidth for use in botnets.

What is the difference between CW TV and CW Seed?

Although CW TV and CW Seed are both owned by the same network and similarly named, they’re actually different things. CW TV primarily hosts currently airing, teen and young-adult oriented shows, while CW Seed is a great place to find lesser-known, digital-only content, as well as full seasons of shows that are popular, but a few years old.

Like CW TV, CW Seed is free to use and has apps available for various different platforms. While CW Seed used to be accessible from the CW TV website, the two services have since been separated. Neither site requires users to register, though, which makes getting started very simple.

Why isn’t the CW Seed website loading?

cw seed vpn error

Most streaming platforms will at least allow you to browse their site, even if you aren’t located within the appropriate region to watch anything. In contrast, both CW TV and CW Seed stop loading the webpage partway through if they realize you’re not in the US, Canada, or Mexico.

As far as geo-restriction measures go, this is a pretty ineffectual solution. In order to bypass it, all you need to do is connect to one of your VPN’s American servers. As CW Seed’s content isn’t state-specific, the server you choose isn’t even important, as long as it’s in North America. Once you’ve connected, do a hard reload of the webpage by holding the CTRL key and pressing F5 (MacOS users can hold Command and Shift, then click reload). The site should now display correctly.

What can I watch on CW Seed?

While CW Seed hosts a lot of little-known content, there are a variety of high-profile shows available, including lots of original productions. Below, we’ve listed a few of the platform’s most popular titles:

  1. Constantine
  2. Harper’s Island
  3. Whose Line Is It Anyway?
  4. Everybody Hates Chris
  5. I Ship It
  6. The Game
