Big Little Lies Season 2

The second season of Big Little Lies will premiere at 9PM EST (7PM PST) on June 9. There’ll be seven episodes, with a new one released every Sunday night, meaning the series will finish on July 21. This promises to be a particularly dramatic season, and below, we’ll let you know how to watch Big Little Lies season 2 live online. Not quite caught up? We’ll also explain how to stream the first season so you’re ready in time for the premiere.

It’s important to note that we’ll only be recommending official sources. Although popular shows like this one are often available on shady streaming sites, we strongly advise against using them. The video quality is often very poor, plus there’s always a chance that the stream will be taken offline for copyright violation partway through. In a series with as many plot twists as Big Little Lies, this could be extremely frustrating. There are several legitimate ways to stream season two anyway, meaning there’s no need to resort to unauthorized sources.

All of the platforms showing Big Little Lies season 2 are region-locked. This means you’ll need a VPN to access them abroad.

VPNs work by encrypting your network traffic and routing it through servers elsewhere in the world. This ensures that your activities can’t be monitored by your employer, Internet Service Provider (ISP), or government. However, VPNs also allow you to spoof your location and access geo-blocked platforms like HBO from anywhere. We recommend ExpressVPN: it has more than 3,000 high-speed servers in 94 countries, strong security and privacy protections, and the ability to unblock a huge range of services including Netflix US, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu.

Signing up for ExpressVPN is quick and easy. Simply choose whether you’d like a one, six, or twelve-month subscription, and pay. This service doesn’t log any information that could identify you, but you can pay with Bitcoin if you’d like another layer of anonymity. ExpressVPN includes a 30-day money-back guarantee, so you can try it risk-free and claim a full refund if you’re in any way unsatisfied.

How to watch Big Little Lies from anywhere with a VPN

Never used a VPN before? Don’t worry: it’s actually quite simple to bypass regional restrictions. Follow the steps below to watch Big Little Lies season 2 abroad:

  1. First, register for a suitable VPN. We’ve already mentioned ExpressVPN above, but NordVPN and CyberGhost are two excellent, low-cost alternatives.
  2. Install the VPN software. There are usually several different versions, so make sure to get the right one for your device.
  3. Choose one of the official sources from the list below.
  4. Connect to a server in the appropriate country. You’d use a US server to unblock HBO, for example, or a British server to access Now TV.
  5. Log in and try playing a video. It should start almost immediately but if you’re having problems, try clearing your cache and cookies, then reloading the page.

Big Little Lies will be broadcast live. For this reason, we recommend testing your VPN with the steps above well before it’s due to begin. This way, you’ll know if anything doesn’t work as expected, and should still have time to get help from your VPN’s customer support team.

How to stream Big Little Lies season 2 live online

Big Little Lies is showing in several countries around the world, and below, we’ll let you know how to stream the new season live, wherever you are.

US

HBO is the only network showing season two of Big Little Lies in the US. If your cable package includes this channel, you can sign into HBO GO and watch new episodes live and free-of-charge. HBO’s on-demand library currently includes the entire first season, and episodes from season two will be added shortly after they finish airing.

If you don’t have cable, there are several other ways to watch. You could subscribe to HBO Now, for instance, or add the HBO Now channel to your existing Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, or PlayStation Vue package. This costs $14.99 USD per month and comes with a seven-day trial. This means that by signing up for the trial on each platform and cancelling before you’re charged, you can watch the first four episodes for free.

The services above are all region-locked and can only be accessed from within the US. Hulu allows you to pay with gift cards, however, meaning it’s technically possible to sign up from anywhere as long as you use a VPN.

UK

Big Little Lies will air on Sky Atlantic in the UK. Episodes will air at the same time as they’re shown in the US, but this means you’ll have to stay up until 2AM BST to watch them live. Thankfully, there’ll also be a rerun the following night at 9PM. Sky TV subscribers can simply sign into the Sky Go app to stream Big Little Lies season 2 online.

You can also watch live on Now TV. This service costs £7.99 per month, which is considerably less expensive than signing up for Sky as a new customer, plus there’s a one-week trial. Sky Go and Now TV both allow you to stream the first season on-demand, so it’s easy to catch up if you’ve missed a few older episodes.

Both of these streaming services are geo-blocked, so you’ll have to either be in the UK or connected to a British VPN server in order to use them.

Canada

Season two of Big Little Lies will be shown exclusively on Crave. If you have cable TV and your subscription includes Crave, you can simply sign in and stream new episodes live. Crave also offers an online-only plan for $9.99 CAD per month (including a 30-day free trial) but this only allows you to watch on-demand content.

To stream new episodes live, you’ll need the Movies + HBO addon, which brings your total monthly cost to $19.98. As such, most people would be better off choosing the base subscription and simply waiting a few hours for Big Little Lies to be added to the on-demand catalog.

Crave TV is only available in Canada. Canadians in other countries can still access it as normal by using a VPN, however.

Australia

New episodes of Big Little Lies will air live on Fox Showcase at 11AM AEST, starting June 10. Don’t worry if you’ll be at work, since they’ll be made available on-demand shortly afterwards. Existing Foxtel TV subscribers can log in to the Foxtel Go app and watch online at no added cost.

You can even watch if you don’t have cable. Foxtel Now costs $25 AUD per month and comes with a 10-day trial. Better yet, as HBO’s content is included in the base subscription, there’s no need to purchase any additional channel packs.

Foxtel services are geo-restricted, and you have to provide an Australian phone number when signing up, which makes it difficult for foreign users to register. Existing subscribers who are outside of Australia can use a VPN to access these platforms from abroad.

What do we know about Big Little Lies season 2?

After the events of season one, there was only ever one direction a sequel could take: the Monterey Five try desperately to keep what really happened to Perry a secret. The official trailer for season 2 shows Bonnie beginning to crack as she struggles with being recognized in public, and there’s a brief shot of the group standing in a police lineup, indicating that Detective Quinlan hasn’t given up quite yet.

One of the show’s stars, Reese Witherspoon, has mentioned that season 2 will “delve deeper into the lives” of the characters. Presumably, this means we’ll see the impact that living with a dark secret can have on day-to-day relationships, not only with the characters’ partners, but also their children. While further plot details are scarce, Big Little Lies season 2 already looks to be one of 2019’s most exciting shows.
