Finding the best VPNs for Viaplay: our methodology

While it’s great to find a VPN that unblocks Viaplay, there are a lot of other factors to consider. Below, we lay out our methodology for choosing the best VPNs for Viaplay.

Streaming suitability

We started by scoring providers on the overall reach of their server networks. This included checking that they had servers in Denmark, the Netherlands, Finland, Norway, and Sweden for Viaplay. We then scored each VPN on its ability to access Viaplay as well as popular streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney Plus.

The scores for the above were averaged and then converted to a score out of 10 for each provider.

NordVPN’s score of 9.7 out of 10 was the highest overall. It had servers in more countries than the other providers that we tested. Moreover, it worked with every streaming platform we tried it with. Speed

To find the fastest providers, we conducted three speed tests for each of them over the course of a day. Tests were carried out in the morning, at noon, and in the afternoon. Security and privacy

Traveling abroad means you may need to access public Wi-Fi on occasion. This comes with many security risks. However, a good VPN will encrypt your data and protect you from IP leaks.
